So why does this site exist? Basically it's because I've been a fan of Jane's Addiction since Nothing's Shocking came out. I was 15, I'd seen the record in the shop and was intrigued, but didn't know anything about who the band were or what they sounded like. Then, one evening, I was listening to the Rock Show on, I think, Capital Radio, and they played a track by this new band no one knew anything about. That band was Jane's Addiction. I was instantly smitten, and charged out the next day to buy the album before anyone else nabbed it.
Thus began a love affair that has yet to diminish, and their re-emergence now in 2003 has just confirmed for me how much they mean to me. I probably would never have written my own music without their influence (whether that's a good thing or not is a matter of personal opinion, of course...), and I still get the same uplifting buzz when I hear them now as I did when I was 15.
So, this site is just a little thank you to a band who have played such a massive role in shaping my life. .. |
