My main memory of Jane's Addiction is somewhat hazy to say the least! After having been a fan for about two or three years, I finally had the chance to see them live at the Brixton Academy in London (I'd missed out on seeing them at the Borderline previously after I'd mistakenly believed my Dad wouldn't have taken me - when I mentioned it to him a couple of days later, he said he would have gladly chaperoned me up to London. Doh).

Anyway, I queued outside on the steps for probably close to three hours, so determined was I to get a space at the front, which meant much dodging of the random drunks that had a tendency to gather wherever a crowd formed. Once inside, I was all alone, right at the very front. I was delighted! Mission very much accompanied. All went well during the support acts, I could breathe, so I was happy.

But then it all went to pot during Jane's set. I have never been so utterly crushed at any gig, ever, and it wasn't helped by the fact that the barrier was made of a triangular metal bar. Aarggh, what little I can remember is that it HURT! It ended up being the only gig where I've had to be lifted out by security, and I was SO cross, all that time spent getting to the front, and then I had to be hoisted out and heaved back into the crowd far to the left of where I'd started.

So I can remember little, I do remember that my Mum was quite horrified by the level of bruising I'd sustained - I just hope I'll one day get a chance to see them where I'll actually be able to remember the show afterwards..!
