Davis - 1837 AL 7. Melissa Davis - 1839 AL 8. Louisa P. Davis - 1841 AL 1. Alfred Davis was born ca. 1826-27 in Alabama, he married Rebecca L. Tippit 5 July 1851 in Smith Co. Mississippi and had four children. Rebecca L. Tippit, sister of William J. Tippit and Martha C. Davis, was born ca. 1835 MS and died 15 May 1919 in Vernon Parish LA and is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Simpson, Vernon Parish LA. In 1861, Jones Co. MS, Alfred Davis joined the Civil War, as a Pvt. in Captain James Johnson's Co. In January 1862, he was on sick furlough and brought home by his brother-in-law, Peter Williams and sunsequently died of typhoid pneumonia at Peter's home. Alfred Davis is buried near his home in Taylorsville, MS. the issue: 1. Daniel - 1853 2. William Thomas - 1856 3. Mary - 1858 4. Emily A. - 1862 Note: the 1860 Smith Co.
