Use white 14-count Aida and 2-3 strands of black thread.

OR

Use black 14-count Aida and 2-3 strand of white thread.

Work the outline of the cat first in backstitch and then fill in the outline with cross-stitches.

The rest of the design is worked in backstitch.

For a festive sparkle why not do the design on a dark coloured Aida and use metallic threads?
