Martin DUNNING

BIOGRAPHY: From "Dunning Family Ancestry", compiled Nov.21, 1952, by LtCol
M.B. Dunning, page 2:
"settled in Addison County, Vermont, where children wereborn; was elected
Selectman of Enosburgh, Vermont, March 19, 1798 and latermoved to St.
Armand, Quebec, Canada, at foot of Lake Champlain, where hedied. In 1812, he
visited relatives at Ticonderoga, New York, with his sons;he returned to
Canada, sons 'went west.'"


Benjamin DUNNING

"Benjamin and his brother, John Dunning, came to Stratford,Connecticut circa
1700, were baptized together, as adults, May 30, 1703 inStratford Church, and
in 1711 were of the party that first settled Newtown,Fairfield County,
Connecticut, where both held town offices. . . . His will,executed March 23,
1737, was proved March 30, 1739, Newton, Connecticut."

"As an adult, he settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where ason, "Benjamin, son
of Benjamin and Mary Dunning" was born March 3, 1679;listed in Boston records
as a taxpayer, 1681-1685; elected as Sealer of Leather,March 12, 1682;
Tything man in Captain Turill's Company, April 30, 1684.By 1687 he had moved
to Fairfield, Connecticut, records reading "March 23, 1687,Benjamin Dunning
hath this day land given him upon his desire to come andlive in this town to
make shoes"; also listed as a witness in the witchcrafttrial of Mercy Desbrow
of Fairfield in 1692. He moved to Jamaica, Long Island,where he is mentioned
in town records in 1699, and again in 1708 as the father ofHannah Dunning who
was married that year to Isaac Hurd of Stratford,Connecticut."
