Lightning
Written June 1999.

The sky darkens
A bolt of lightning
Flashes from the sky
It looks like a slim white branch
Attacking
Splitting the Earth into two

It blinds
Coming out from dark clouds
A wild white flash
That ends as quickly as it starts

Followed by a thunderstorm
Deep rumbling
Splitting ears into two
It crashes
Like a plank of metal
Hitting another
It doesn't break
It bends

Then it's over
Except the rain
That pours down
Steadily
Column by column
Drenching all in its path

The once beautiful place
Now set in ruins
