A Name
Written December 2004.

One day things will change
We'll be just another memory
A name engraved on a slab of stone
A picture in someone's frame

It touches us at some point
Reminds us that life is touch and go
That life is short despite it all
How each hour seems to drag by

And everytime we see it
It's another reminder to us
To thake things less seriously
But not to take for granted

We can cry for things lost
But not for time lost lives lost
It's a little too late then
You can't put time back

And when we realize it
Is when we truly wake up
To be able to be in the moment
So that when it calls we're ready
