House Built On Dreams
Written June 2004.

The workmen putting up frames
The concrete poured in the ground
That's how we're told to be good
They all said hard work paid off

This is a house built on dreams
When I thought I could be anything
When the world turned right
When I could dream about the future

I'm not breaking ground there's none left
Evaporating bubbles water and all
What happened to my life
Where has all the youth gone

My house still there still unfinished
Waiting, waiting for something to happen
Nothing more solid than clouds
Built of nothing but dreams

It's a house built on dreams
It's collapsing by the day
It can never be anything more
From when life was more than a dream
