soitgoes'
sweater mittens
you will need:
a large, wool sweater -- 100% wool is ideal, don't go below 70%, I get
all of
mine at thrift stores (it can be patterned or unpatterned, but I find
that
patterns are more interesting)
yarn in a complementary or contrasting color
a tapestry needle
what to do:
felt the sweater, i.e. send it through the washing machine on hot for
at least
3 cycles until the material gets very dense, then throw it in the
dryer.
using a pair of mittens that fit you (or the person you're giving the
mittens
to), cut out 4 mitten outlines. use the yarn to whipstitch around the
edge of
the mittens to fasten the tops and bottoms together, making sure you
are
creating a left and a right mitten.
