Nancy Drew box
what you need:
a hardcover Nancy Drew book (one of the new printings of old titles,
please!
I'm told the genuine old ones are worth some money)
a small wooden box with a top and bottom about the same size or smaller
than
the book cover
craft glue
mod podge
paints, brushes, glitter, sequins, feathers, etc. (anything to dress up
your
box)
what to do:
rip out the interior pages, reserving the illustrated pages and some
others.
neatly cut the top and bottom away from the spine of the book. if the
box has
a clasp, try to remove it. carefully paper the inner bottom and top of
the
box with one of the illustrations and the inner sides of the box with
the text
pages, using a thinly brushed on layer of mod podge as glue.
paint the outside of the box in colors to complement the cover. you
can also
glue some of the pictures to the outside (I usually put a big one on
the back
of the box and a smaller one in the middle of the front). use craft
glue to
secure the front cover to the top of the box and the back cover to the
bottom.
use mod podge to seal the inside and outside of the box, making sure
you
don't accidentally glue it shut. embellish with glitter, sequins,
feathers,
etc.
