About Me! I am Jane Cherie (Herron) Yaciuk, a 1998 graduate of the Oklahoma School of Science and Math and a May 2002 magna cum laude graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a BS in Biochemistry/minor in Linguistics. While an undergraduate, I was involved with research studying malic enzyme in the OU biochemistry lab of Dr. Paul F. Cook under the direction of Dr. Dali Liu. I was accepted to graduate school through the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (GPiBS) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center beginning the Fall of 2002. Currently, I am a Predoctoral student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology as an affiliate at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. I earned my Masters degree in Summer 2004, and I am now pursuing doctoral research concerning immune tolerance mechanisms in the lab of Dr. A. Darise Farris. Upon completion of my degree, my prospective career plans include teaching and research--the world is my oyster. September 2, 2000: Announcing my engagement to Timothy Andrew Yaciuk! September 2005 Elected President of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Society. Spring 2005 OUHSC Graduate Student Association Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement November 2004 I have been selected for a Trainee position on the OUHSC Microbiology & Immunology's Training Grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease!!! August 2004 I have passed my written and oral qualifying exams and am now officially admitted to Ph.D. candidacy in Microbiology and Immunology!!! (I also received my Masters degree!) May 2003 On May 2, 2003, I was notified of my status as an Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Predoctoral Fellow! Click here to see my current biosketch July 2002: I was recently notified that I am a recipient of the Robert Graf Scholarship from the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. May 2002: On May 18, 2002, I finally married the love of my life, Mr. Timothy Andrew Yaciuk. Click here to see select pictures from our wedding celebration, before/during/after! I graduated from the University of Oklahoma on May 11, 2002, and I had the wonderful honor of sharing the ceremonies with my future husband as we chose to participate in commencement together. April 2002: I was one of thirteen named to the Women's Letzeiser Honor List, the highest honor bestowed upon a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I was also selected for membership into Phi Beta Kappa, the highest honor a student graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences may be given. November 2001: I have just been named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the University of Oklahoma! This graphic looks just like our cat, Footer!
