The crazy adventures of the Jagger family and their friends as they try to cram a month's worth of vacation into a week in Brussels and introduce one apprehensive American to Europe (thanks for the photos that I borrowed from your site Mark).
As Verity was without a US visa and we wanted to be together as a family for Xmas, we decided to spend it in Brussels or more specifically at Jenny's house a few kilometres outside the city. We flew in and brought with us Mark, as a surprise for Verity. He was petrified about her reaction when she saw him and she had no idea what was going on when we met at the airport. But all went well except that Felicity who was in on the secret and who was meeting us to give us the keys to Jenny's house had, in her excitement, left the keys on her kitchen table.
Never mind, by the time we had picked up the rental car and driven to Hoeilaart, Felicity had been home, picked up the keys and we followed her for the last 100 metres. We could see Mark in the backseat of the Twingo marvelling at the goats and geese in the village gardens. It's a little different from Long Island you know.
The kids disappeared to show Mark some of the sights, including the most beautiful square in Europe, which is especially nice at this time of year with its crib and Christmas market. New for 2002 were the illuminated florescent sheep and cows. Look closely at the Broodhuis below and you can see a pink sheep next to the flag on the balcony. Did I mention Belgium is the cradle of the surrealist movement?

The reason we allgot together or Xmas is that Felicity loves the whole Christmas experience: the family; the food and especially the presents. Verity on the other hand would rather skip the whole deal and treat it like any other day; Can you guess from these photos which daughter is which?
