17) The Proposal *
In the darkness of the garden, under the old oak tree, Rochester finally reveals his true feelings for Jane.  She cannot believe him, but he assures her he is in earnest.  After expressing the true depth of his emotion for her, Jane finally agrees to be his wife.
18) Slip of a Girl
Mrs. Fairfax cannot believe the news at first, but eventually comes around and accepts it.
At long last, Jane and Rochester share their love
19) Sirens (reprise)
The happy day arrives, but with it, Mr. Mason.  In the middle of the ceremony, the truth of the mysterious woman is revealed, a truth that will not allow Jane to marry the man she loves.  Rochester pleads with her, but Jane's moral character cannot permit her to yeild to his desperate cries.
20) Farewell, Good Angel
Jane flees from Thornfield.  In agony, Rochester calls to her, but it is all in vain.  Suddenly, the house errupts in flames.  Up on the roof, the figure beckons to Rochester and he hurries to save her.
The figure sets fire to Thornfield and jumps to her death
21) My Maker
22) Rain

Jane wanders the moors for days, desperate and alone, without money or food.  Eventually she finds herself back at Gateshead, home of her dying Aunt Reed.  One last time, Jane offers her forgiveness to her aunt, but Mrs. Reed dies refusing it, as unhappy and spiteful as ever.
23) The Voice Across the Moors
St. John Rivers, the clergyman who had watched over Mrs. Reed's last hours, has formed a friendship with Jane.  He is soon to depart as a missionary to India, and begs Jane to accompany him as his wife.  She prays to God for guidance, but as an answer hears Rochester's voice calling to her across the moors.  She wishes St. John luck, and returns in haste to Thornfield.
24) Poor Sister
Janes finds the old house in ruins, destroyed by the fire.  As she wanders the blackened walls, she meets Mr. Mason, there to visit the grave of his sister, Bertha, the madwoman who was Rochester's wife.  Mason explains to Jane about the fire and tells her where to find Rochester.
25) Brave Enough for Love
Rochester has been blinded by the fire, but he immediately recognizes Jane's voice.  Able to be together at last, they again declare their love and thank God for showing them mercy.
They will never lose faith, they will never lose heart
