"EMI Recorded Music has decided to merge
its two country music labels. Virgin Nashville will be merged into Capitol
Nashville on Feb. 12 under the label's president, Mike Dungan. Virgin Nashville
president Scott Hendricks will leave the company, EMI said. Attempts will
be made to relocate Virgin Nashville's 16 remaining staffers to EMI's other
Nashville labels, the company said. EMI's Nashville-based labels include
Sparrow Label Group, Forefront Records and EMI Gospel, which is part of EMI
Christian Music Group. They will not be affected by the restructuring, EMI
said. Hendricks established Virgin Nashville in 1998 after he was reportedly
forced out of his position as president and CEO of Capitol Nashville because
he clashed with Garth Brooks. "
