From Enews: John Berry is the latest artist in a string of artists who; have bailed out of Capitol Records Nashville. Berry was granted a release from hisCapitol Records contract this week. The official announcement issued by Capitol Records Nashville states that "Berry is leaving 'to regroup and reorganize some aspects of his career'." Berry, like many other artists at Capitol Nashville seem to believe that they have been hurt by the attention given to Garth Brooks. Although Berry's publicist would not comment on that issue. Deana Carter recently said in an interview, after meeting with Capitol Records executives in Los Angeles that she was unhappy with the attention given Garth Brooks. She was also concerned with the postponement of the release of her next album. Berry was having the same type of trouble with Capitol. His new album, Better Than A Biscuit was scheduled for release earlier in the year.It has been re-scheduled several times by Capitol. Pat Quigley, president and CEO of Capitol Records Nashville, and hand picked by Brooks, stated in the release that Berry "feels a need to move on and Irespect that." He also said that when John asked for his release from the label he agreed to it. Garth Brooks seems to be at the center of dissent by artists on the Capitol roster. Tanya Tucker recently sued Capitol for reasons which are consistent with those of Berry, and expressed by Deana Carter. Garth is also the best-selling artist in country musichistory and is the best-selling solo artist of all genre's. Berry will probably not be the last artist to leave the Capitol Records Nashville family. Sources close to the situation think that before years end several other& artists may request to be released from the label. The saga will continue. No word on where John may end up, keep watching for more on this story.
