Florida
To cut a long story short, we only stayed in Florida as long as we did to enable us to get the RV trip worthy (including waiting for the license plate), to visit relatives, and to wait for the weather to improve out West.
We visited many places while we were there. Lake Okeechobee was notable as we were threatened with the sheriff by a lady who over-reacted when 2 of the dogs ran towards her dogs unleashed. St. Petersburg was notable for the Sunshine Skyway, a very tall and long yellow bridge over the Gulf of Mexico. This structure may not seem very impressive to you but try going across it with dodgy brakes and tires! Cape Canaveral was also notable for the Kennedy Space Centre and the very enjoyable and memorable day we spent there with Matilda and Lyndon.

The highlight of our stay in Florida, apart from renewing family friendships, was being able to see aligators up close and personal and the manatees near Satellite Beach. Manatees are an endangered species thanks to humans (as usual) so it was a real privilege to see them.
Turkey Creek is also worth a visit if you're in the Palm Bay area. It's a nature reserve in suburbia and is a reminder of life before development.
Florida is a symbol of mans' ingenuity and engineering skill. Less than 100 years ago, most of the area was inhospitable swamp. Lets hope they know when to stop.
