The Longing

Doesn't seem right to smile, you said go on

Doesn't seem right to laugh, you said move on

Doesn't seem right to lie, you said go on

All I wanted was to say goodbye, you said move on

ate icecream and birthday cake, cried at your funeral

the bittersweet aftermath was undeniable, I didn't have a choice

you flew towards the light, wings weakly carried you home

you didn't remember my name, it's not your fault

although I never saw you or held you in my arms

although we never watched the angels fly or heard the trumpets sound

I look up to the sky and know you're smiling down

you didn't know my name, but it's not my place to blame

Doesn't seem right to sulk, you said go on

Doesn't seem right to worry, you said move on

Doesn't seem right at all, you said go on

All I wanted was to say hello, you said move on

Horace was a truck driver and damned good man
