Wilbur's the name, and he's my dog,
His face is white and brown,
He came with me
for all to see
He's the only Aussie dog in town.

We flew on the plane from the bottom of the earth
To live in a land full of snow
With bears and deers
and moose on the loose
It was a huge decision to go.

He's six years old so I've been told,
He's been with me all those years;
We packed up our stuff
It was awfully rough,
And we left amongst heaps of tears.

We said goodbye to our family and friends
And headed up north to live
It was a long, long ride,
him by my side,
To see what a new life had to give.

He's  gained some weight and runs like mad
And barks at his neighbours nearby,
But he hates the birds or helicopters
He sees up high in the sky.

We've seen lots of bears
And mountains of snow
And got used to the temperatures
that go down  oh! .... so low.

His tail is full and fluffy and grand
And stands up straight and tall;
It wags non stop when he sees his mates
Or when his mum throws him his ball.

There's Flash and Beebs and Charlie who call,
His new doggie mates, Canadian and all;
I often wonder, just for a lark
If they know he's an Aussie,
From the tone of his bark.

He loves to swim but was scared of the ice
And had to be shown what it was.
It sure was different from his swims at home,
The  water is warmer in "OZ".

He sleeps a lot, all warm and secure
And happy in his new place
We're together all day,
Filled with cuddles and play
And I adore his sweet little face.

I hope for the years to be many and long,
Before the tears begin to flow,
He's my little boy,
Who brings me joy,
And I dread the time he will go.

My heart will be heavy and filled with despair
At the sight of my dear little friend,
He'll no longer run
nor bask in the sun
But instead will have his life end.

I'll place him deep, where he's covered in snow,
It will be somewhere nice in the end;
I'll share my thoughts, my smiles and tears
And thank him profoundly for being my friend.

But till that day
we'll continue to play
And fill our lives with fun
We'll roll in the snow
until it will go
From the rays of the gorgeous sun

"Wilbur George"
(From Tasmania to British Columbia)
Lots of hugs  to you my darling little friend ...
