As I sat at my desk in my new country town,
Reflecting on what I have now;
The computer screen was what I had seen,
I wanted new friends ....  only how???

I decided I needed to join with a group,
One that filled up my heart;
With Victorian treasures,
and elegant pleasures;
One that felt good from the start.
I sent in my name, and thought I was game;
For anything that came along;
Little did I know, what was to go
And turn into something so strong.

The letters arrived one by one,
And sometimes in a bunch;
I sat down at nine, to read what was mine,
And before I knew ... it was lunch!!!

I had a hunch,
They were a great bunch
of elegant girls everywhere;
I needed to know where they came from
And wrote them that I'd been there.

I'd recently flown from a land down under,
To begin a brand new life;
The man I'd met had proposed to me,
And I was to be a new wife.

I told the girls in my internet group,
Of the things I'd left behind;
The linen, the laces, the dinner set places;
And the table where  friends had dined.

There were bears with grins
who were painted on tins,
And stuffed and sewn as well;
I had to choose ... what should I lose,
It was awfully hard to tell.

I brought with me all that I could,
the choices had to be made;
A quilt, some books, photo's and clothes,
I was happy, excited, yet a little afraid.

My tales of Oz were heard by the girls
I'd found on internet;
They felt sad for me, and wanted to be
The reason I had no regret.
To replace the things I had to leave
or give away to friends;
They decided to surprise me, one by one
And post me odds and ends

The boxes arrived and I started to cry,
At the gorgeous gifts they had sent.
North America had welcomed me,
That was what they meant.

Teddy bear books and cats with good looks,
Were arriving to live with me;
The plates and dishes fulfilled all my wishes
And the cups were mine for tea.

Pooh Bear was there for a cuddle or two,
Dear Elinore he's special ... he was from you   :-)

A little Boyd bear and a stripey racoon
Sit next to a bundle of cards;
There's hatpins and things, and angels with wings,
And fabric for quilts by the yards.

Beautiful notes, and collectable quotes
Are filling my house with love;
Boxes with bows and all that goes
With the things I've mentioned  above.

I love my cushions and baskets around,
They will always remind me of you;
As I sit .... sipping tea and thinking of thee
I'm  wishing you're here with me too.
My Victorian hat.....you should see that;
It's gorgeous as it can be.
With ribbons and feathers and a little pearl.
I'm looking a bit like an old fashioned girl.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts
and wonderful ways with me;
As the years go by and we continue to talk
You're the friends I would love to see.
One day we'll meet
I'm convinced of that,
You'll know its me,
By my beautiful hat.

"Love to you all"

Written to honour the real girls of the internet
who welcomed me graciously and generously to North America when I arrived from Australia with little more than a quilt, my dog and my clothes.
