Yazhpanam Sri. A.K. Karunakaran
A prime disciple of the late Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam,
Sri Karunakaran started his training in 1961 at Yazhpanam Ramanathan Music Academy.
He then continued his training and pursued his studies at the Central College of Carnatic
Music, Chennai, where he obtained the title, Sangeetha Vidwan and a diploma in teaching.
A renowned performing artiste, Sri Karunakaran has enthralled classical music lovers
through his concerts all over the world. He also regularly performs on Radio and TV.
He moved over to Singapore in 1991 to teach at SIFAS.
At Singapore he has prepared so far five students in his stint as teacher of SIFAS to give
an inaugural vocal concert in Singapore. He has also released two CD's.
