Here is a basic mixture for making your own reef rock!

What you need:

- cement ( not the premix stuff just plain cement )
- oyster shells or crushed coral , argonite , domolite
anything you wouldn't hesitate putting in your tank as a gravel.
- optional broken pieces of coral or small pieces of rock
- 2 large containers like a plastic tub for forming your pieces
- a 5 gallon bucket to make the mixture in
- a tool for stirring and forming the mixture

directions:

step 1 : Mix 1 part cement to 4 or 5 parts coral or what ever

step 2 : add enough water to make the mixure soupy but lumpy

step 3 : mix the whole thing really really well ( a must !)

step 4 : in the tub or container form a mold out of the coral
or what ever you want the stuff to look like.

step 5 : spoon out the mix with a trowel or spoon ect...
be creative with your forms anything is possible!

step 6 :let the mix dry out for a day or so then ( and
this is what I like to do ) flood the container
with water as concrete need to be wet to cure to
full hardness

step 7 :Now for the hard part remove the rock from the tub have the second container filled with water , enough to cover the rock . As the rock soaks the PH of the water will spike and will continue to for a few weeks. Change the water regularly once a day or so untill the ph evens outtest the water occationally too you should be able to get ph test kits at any pet store.
