Carnatic Performer
Janaki had her initial music training under late Malayappa Shastrigal and late Vedaranyam Krishnamurthy Iyer. She furthered her music training under Smt. Radha Jayaraman. She has a higher-degree in music from Kumbakonam.

Janaki started the Annual Tulsa Thyagaraja Utsavam in 199- and trains local singers in the Pancharatnam Krithis.

"Smt. Janaki's elaboration in the higher reaches disclosed her strong points in neraval swaras," - Deccan Chronicle.

Music Teacher
She has been teaching carnatic vocal music since 1977. She was the resident teacher at the Baba Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Bombay, for 10 years. She currently runs a music school in Tulsa, OK conducting classes for beginners, intermediate and senior carnatic students. If you live near Tulsa and would like to learn carnatic music or bhajans, please call (918) 252-9512 or email Janaki Srinivasan directly.

Proud Mother!
Her pride and joy are her children, Lakshmi, Sudharsana and Ravi, shown at the left in all their splendour! All are accomplished vocalists and Lakshmi and Sudharsana are beautiful Bharata Natyam dancers, too.

Ravi has performed at various venues in North America, including Dallas, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Tulsa.

Great Cook
As anyone who has had the pleasure of eating her food knows, Janaki is an amazing cook! Stay tuned for a brand new online cookbook for traditional South Indian fare, entitled, "As Easy As That."

Nothing Would Have Been Possible but For ...
They say behind every great man is a great woman. In this case the reverse is true - none of these talents could have been honed, none of these goals could have been realized, (none of these dance and music classes paid for!) had it not been for the never wavering support of Janaki's husband, M.S.Srinivasan. He's the one in the family who has always been there to watch and listen, because after all, if everyone sings, who will listen??!
