Eyes (looking), Ear (hearing), Nose (smelling), Tongue (tasting), Skin (touch) are our organs to feel the surroundings. Our feeling of surroundings is our experience. This is stored in our Brain and this stored information is utilised in future while carrying out various Tasks.

Generally we never forget our personal experience. Forgetting does not mean the experience is washed off from our brain. Any information stored in brain is never washed off. Forgetting simply means we are not able to trace that information at that time. Failure to trace and find information is 'Forgetting'

Parents teach child. There is a method so the child can learn step by step. Just telling a child 'get up' is not sufficient to tech the child to rise. Parents have to hold child's hand and raise and speak. This may have to be repeated more than once. The child keeps the information in brain and learns how to use it. Here parents and the child are teacher and student. teacher teaches student through practical experience. Child learns to store information and use it as and when needed. Through experience children learn to use stored information under different situations.

One can learn many things through self experience. There is no doubt such learning is the best. There is much less possibility of forgetting what is learnt through self experience. However, there are many things which is not only dangerous but may result in loss of life. For an example consider knowledge about poison. If one drinks good quantity of poison there is grim chance of survival. Hence the Teacher is indispensable.

Who is a teacher? or who can be a teacher or who should be a teacher? It is a proven fact that a person listens, takes advice, follows another person only when he/she has full belief in the other person. This in simple words means the teacher must have proven record of knowledge, must be a friend, must be concerned about well being of the student and practices same what he/she (teacher) preaches. Such a person is capable of generating confidence in students and is accepted by the students.

In the beginning of the civilisation man had hardly any necessities. Hence, need for knowledge was very limited. With advancement in technology and man's instinct for more pleasure with less physical strain necessities kept on increasing. A century or two ago knowledge imparted by parents and other elders in the family was adequate for most of the people. Whoever had to shoulder more responsibilities had to stay with teacher and work to fulfill all his necessities and also take care of the teacher. In case a bigger requirement crops up the king used to take care. Thus parents, elders and one teacher had been the sources of knowledge.

With rapid development based on inventions and discoveries need for a teacher has increased and increasing much more than what could be thought of in past. Books have supplemented teachers. Therefore books also are teachers. In today's world it is impossible for one person to be master of all knowledge. This gave rise to specialisation. Whatever work is done it needs specialists from many fields. Therefore, an administrator became essential to co-ordinate and control various activities in a particular task. Administrator need not possess deep knowledge of all activities but must have capabilities to assess various activities so that final aim is achieved in reasonable time.

Present day situation demands specialisation in one field and reasonable knowledge in connected activities. Therefore it is advisable to learn from any one who has specialised in a particular activity. If one wish to know how to sweep floor, the person must learn it from a sweeper who is the specialist in that activity and sweeper only can teach the same. If one wish to administer all activities of a group the knowledge of every activity must be obtained from the specialist in each of the activities. In India this had been well taken in past. Learned persons in past have a advise for all 'Learn sweet talk from a child' This simply means there is no bar about a teacher when one wish to gain knowledge.

When aim is to learn, learn from the specialist in that knowledge irrespective whether the person is superior or inferior. There is no need to be shy while learning from those who you feel are inferior in other spheres. Whoever understands this and learns from any teacher (who is a specialist in that activity) shall always win.
