In August 2003, a very good friend of mine, Neil Rushton Hendry, invited me to embark on a project. A Design exercise which I can say, kept me from getting rusty, and allowed me the opportunity to once again use my architectural design skills.

Almost a year after, I am very much pleased with the quality of work and the integrity of the design that we we�re able to come up with.


Located 20 minutes away from Phuket town, 30 minutes from Patong. The site is nestled with in the proximity of a Golf Course Development Complex. To the East of the Site is a Golf Hotel complex with Fairways designed by the famous Jack Nicklaus. First class residential developments with man-made lake and woodland defines the rest of the site�s periphery.

Given these conditions the initial development approach was to subdivide the property and develop them into nine single detached units and five town houses.

Five Town house units; each with it's own private garden and Sala, are built on a resort type setting. A man-made tropical lake serves as the focal point, and provides the setting for the common pool and outdoor spaces. Pedestrian access is possible from the main service road, and private parking is neatly tucked, out of sight behind the town house units.

Nine single detached housing units; the Garden Villas, sit on private lots arranged around a common drive court. Each one has been conceptualised as a tropical retreat, with it's own private pool, garden and outdoor sala. The living and dining rooms of which are open in plan, typical of south east asian architecture, extends towards the outdoors thru fully openable partitions; therefore taking advantage of wonderful climate that the location has to offer. There are two bedroom and three bedroom units, each allocated with individual balconies. Service and utilities are more than the basics, with a two-car garage each unit.
