'GOSPEL OF
GOD' PREACHED BY JESUS CHRIST
Often a question is asked:
Do Muslims believe in Jesus Christ and/or in his teachings? Here are
the answer to those queries.
"WE SENT THE GOSPEL TO
JESUS", REVEALS ALLAH
Qur'an 5:46/47 and 43:63;
"And in their (earlier prophets) footsteps,
We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming
the Taurat (the Torah), that had come
before him: We sent him the Injeel (the
Gospel), therein was Guidance and
Light. And confirmation of the Taurat (
the Torah), that had come before him:
a Guidance and an Admonition to those who fear
Allah."
"Let the People of the Injeel (the Gospel),
judge by what Allah had revealed therein.
If any do fail to judge by what Allah had
revealed, they are those who rebel."
Note: Paul was NOT a "Messenger of
God". He testifies; was made "a
minister" ( Acts 26:16 K.J.V.).
"When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: 'Now
I have come to you with wisdom, in order to make
clear to you some of the (points) on which you
dispute*; therefore fear Allah and obey
me**. For Allah is my God
and your God***; so
worship you Him****: this is a straight
way."

THE EARLY MINISTRY OF
JESUS
After his
stay in a wilderness for forty days, Jesus entered Galilee preaching
the 'Gospel of God'. He admonished the people by saying: "repent and
believe in the Gospel". Mark 1:14/15. That was the beginning
of his ministry. Jesus traveled throughout Galilee, proclaiming the
Gospel in the various synagogues and healing. Matthew
4:23.
While traveling in the
region, Jesus came to Nazareth where he had been brought up as a
Jew. Following the Jewish custom, Jesus entered a synagogue on the
Sabbath day. Here, he was given a Scroll of the prophet Isaiah to
read. Jesus unrolled the Scroll and according to apostle Luke, read
the following text from Isaiah chapter 61, that which spoke of him.
The text clearly indicates the God's purpose for
anointing. It was to preach the Gospel to the poor
and afflicted. Jesus is called "Christ Jesus",
because God had anointed him.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he anointed me
to preach
the Gospel to the afflicted (poor)..." Luke 4:18
During the ministry of Jesus -
long before the four Gospels that we read in The New Testament were
written - his disciples following the footsteps of their beloved
Teacher: "began going about among the villages, preaching the
Gospel..." (Luke 9:6). This was the 'Gospel of God'
that Jesus had taught them.
Apostle Peter had rightly
questioned in his first Epistle: "What will be the outcome for those
who do not obey the 'Gospel of God'?" 4:17.
When the apostle
Paul wrote in his letter to the Galatians; not to be mislead by the
preaching that are contrary to that which they had already received,
Paul was referring to the above mentioned 'Gospel of God' that
Jesus himself had taught to his disciples and the followers.
Many connect this verse to the four Gospels of the New Testament
which were not yet written when Paul wrote his letter. They were
written nearly 30 to 35 years after the above letter of Paul was
addressed to the Galatians.
THE SERMON ON THE
MOUNT
Seeing a great assembly
of his followers, Jesus went up on a mountain. He opened his mouth
and began teaching many things. The details of his
teachings are recorded by apostle Matthew in chapters 5 to 7. When
Jesus had finished his Sermon, the multitudes were amazed at his
teachings. Jesus was not speaking like an ordinary scribe but as a
Messenger that had come to them with a Divine authority. Mt.
7:29.
Some of the noteworthy passages from that historical
Sermon:
Whosoever therefore annuls (discards) one of the
least of these Commandments, and so teaches others,
he shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven:
but whosoever keeps and teaches them,
he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Mt.
5:19
After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father
which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Mt.
6:9/13
But you, when you fast, anoint your head,
and wash your face; so that you may not be seen fasting
by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father,
who sees in secret, will reward you openly. Mt.
6:17/18
Not every one
that says to me, Lord, Lord,
shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he
that does
the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Many will say to
me in that day, Lord, Lord,
have we not
prophesied in your name? and in your
name have cast out
devils? and in your name done
many wonderful
works? And then I will declare to them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, you that work iniquity.
Mt. 7:21/23
Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of
mine, and acts upon
them, may be compared to a
wise man, which built
his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended,
and the floods came,
and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell not: for it
was founded upon a rock.
And every one that hears
these sayings of
mine, and acts not upon them, will be like
a foolish man, which
built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and
the floods came, and the
winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the
fall of it. Mt. 7:24/27

JESUS ACCOMPLISHED THE
ENTRUSTED WORK
Besides, the Sermon on the
Mount, the righteous Jesus did during his short ministry of three
years, "teach his disciples" whatever the God Commanded him to
Declare. Jesus was a faithful "Messenger" of the One that had sent
him. These "teachings" and "messages" from God were the "Good News
of God" (Injeel). Declaring this was the work entrusted to
him by the God, whom he often called "Father" in a metaphorical
sense. Jesus also said; the same God was "our" Father. (John 20:17).
In other words; the Creator of us, is as much a Father of us all
today (in a figurative expression) as He was of Jesus Christ. Since
this terminology was greatly misunderstood, the Qur'an prohibits its
use.
Jesus never declared; he was a
"Begotten" Son of God; God the Son; God the Creator; an associate
(partner) of God; a physical manifestation or an incarnation of God
the Creator. The term "Begotten Son" does not appear in the Greek
text of John's Gospel. Please click HERE
and read the "Note:" at the end of the article. The Doctrine of
Trinity, as taught by the Christian Church today, was not taught by
Christ or by any of the prophets of the Old Testament that came
before Christ Jesus.
After Jesus had conveyed the "Good
News" (God's Message - The Gospel) , he saw that "the hour has come"
for him to depart. Jesus lifted his eyes to the heaven and confirmed
his accomplishment of the entrusted work. Apostle John has recorded
them in the following verses:
"And this is the eternal life, that they may know
You the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom You had sent. I
glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the
work which You had given me to do." John 17:
3/4. Jesus acknowledged that the Glory belonged to God
alone. He said:
"But I do not seek my glory; there is One who
seeks and judges." John 8:
50.
"For I have not spoken on my own initiative;
but the Father Himself who sent me,
has given me commandment,
what I
should say, and what I should speak. John 12: 49
If you abide in my word, then you are truly disciples of
mine; And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free. John
8: 31/32.
"Let the People of the Injeel (the Gospel),
judge by what Allah had revealed therein.
If any do fail to judge by what Allah had
revealed, they are those who rebel." Qur'an
5: 47.
"Give this warning to those in whose (hearts) is the
fear, that they will be brought (to Judgment) before
their Lord: for whom there is no protecting
friend nor intercessor besides Him,
that they may ward off (evil)." Qur'an 6:
