Choong Moo Chung Mu

The name of a great Admiral, Yi Sun Sin, of the Yi Dynasty, who was reputed to have invented the first armoured battleship in 1592 A.D. The left hand attack ending the form symbolizes his unfortunate death in battle before he was able to demonstrate his complete loyalty to the King.

    The opposite of white, showing Maturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon Do. It indicates the Wearers Imperviousness to Darkness and Fear.

1st Dan Kwang Gye 39 The name of the famous Kwang Gye T’o Wang, 19th King of the Koguryo Dynasty who regained the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The 39 steps indicate his reign of 39 years.
1st Dan Po Un   Pseudonym of a loyal subject, Chong Mong Chu (1400 AD), whose famous poem, "I will not serve a second master though I be crucified a hundred times" is known to every Korean.

General Rules and Ethics of Gym
This is a sample only, different Instructors may have others

  1. When entering or leaving the Gym, bow to respect and thank the use of the hall. Also to respect the national flags.
  2. All members must respect each other and bow when meeting the Instructor, Master, seniors, fellow members.
  3. All students must make an effort to keep the gym in a tidy condition, before & after class.
  4. All students must wear proper Uniform approved by the Instructor and should be clean at all times
  5. Do not enter during the class without permission from your Instructor. eg if you're late
    You should bow to the instructor at the front of the class, then join the class at the back.
  6. Do not leave during the class without permission from your Instructor. eg if you're getting a drink
  7. All orders issued in the gym by the Master and seniors must be obeyed.
  8. Student must always bow before speaking to the instructor and use words of consideration, while speaking such as yes sir, no sir, pardon me.
  9. All members are expected to be courteous and understanding.
  10. Members must not make any noise or cause disturbance inside gym or during the class.
  11. Advance students are to expected to set a good example to newer students and to assist such students whenever necessary.
  12. Conversations should not be loud and no chewing gum the Tae Kwon Do gym or training.
  13. Do not engage in any activities that might degrade the code of ethics or reputation of the academy.
  14. All members must have approval of the academy by master instructor before participating in any competition
  15. Treat any substitute teacher as you would with your regular instructor.
  16. All membership grading card (grading record) must be presented at each grading session.
