Title: Step Towards the End
Author: Jami Lynn
Chapter: 7
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me. Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns either of us). This is the sequel to "Take That Step" , "One Step Back" and "one Step Forward" you'll find the addresses to those stories in my signature at the bottom of this email. And I use the wrestlers wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother suing me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know yet *L*.
Summary: IS Jami going through an emotional breakdown? Or is she just starting to make sense?
Feedback: I need feedback like I need air! So give it to me, babee!

As Jami sat there, her features were full of emotion. But there were to many emotions for them to remain seperated and they were all blurred together.
Finally her eyes looked up at Jeff through her thick eye lashes, her face still facing down at an angle. Both of her hands eased up to push loose hair back behind her ears as she began to speak.
"You really believe we turned our backs on you, that we betrayed you. Don't you." The way she stated it, made it feel more like a fact then a question. Jami lifted up her face, not moving her eyes, but more like bringing her face to level with her eyes.
Everyone in the room knew that the question was a loaded question. That Jami wasn't just referring to the choosing of factions thta had gone on that night. Not even just talking about the situation with Danny. But something so much deeper that no one could dare to guess what she was meaning. Jami, herself, didn't even know what she meant. Only what she had seen. or not seen, and felt in each mans eyes.
"The tape...the evidence." was all Jeff could whisper. Jami slowly lowered her face back into her open palms once more. That's when Tasha, Lita, Edge and Matt knew that something important was happening before them. They were watching a marriage crumble into pieces before their very eyes. But there was more at stake then that. Their love for each other was at risk as well. All four wanted to make a move forward to make it stop, but they were to caught up in the moment to make their minds do as they wanted.
Slowly Jami once again raised her face out of her palms, but this time she just barely moved it. Just enough to let her speak clearly. "I have proof too." she whispered.
When on one answered, she slowly raised her face up all the way again, her eyes staying closed this time. She licked her lips slowly before speaking in a voice that seemed like she was speaking from a dream.
"I knew we were meant to be together. You've been hurt before but I promise that I will never hurt you...I'll do everything I can to protect you. I'll love you forever and I'll cherish you even longer." Jami quoted from Jeff's marriage vow to her. Jeff opened his mouth to say something, but Jami silenced him with one finger.
Her eyes still closed, she continued. "When I saw you across the room that day, I think I lost my heart to you in that very instant. I tried to fight it, but my heart won. And I'm so glad it did. You believed in us when I was to scared to. And then you let me go, so I could find my way back to you. I will love you forever. I promise." Jami repeated the words from hre own marriage vow to Jeff.
She could sense he was about to speak, but she held up another finger to silence him. During the few moments before she spoke again, Edge, Tasha, Lita and Matt ached to do something to stop this from happening. But again, they could not move. They were to mesmorized by the moment.
"You once told me to trust you. And I did. You told me that I either loved you or I didn't. That you were not going to beg me to love you. That you loved me and had proven it to me. But if I didn't love you, you weren't going to make me. That there were no maybe's in love. That if I didn't understand that, then I never would. But I did understand that. I have made many mistakes in our relationship, but I admitted each one. You also told me that the only way I could hurt you was to deny my feelings."
Jami opened pain filled brown eyes at that instant. "I feel pain. A lot of pain. And I know Tasha and Lita feel the exact some way. I love you Jeff, just like Tasha loves Edge and Lita loves Matt. When Matt kissed Holli, we went looking for him to let him explain. But when you guys were shown a tape that could have made us looked guilty or innocent, you refused to let us explain. You immediently condemned us, judge, jury and executioner. We feel pain! So much pain it makes it hard for me, for us, to breathe. We trusted you to believe us, and you didn't."
Jami stood up then. "I have one last piece of evidence I'd like to submit to the jury." Jami said. She slipped her wedding ring from her finger. Her fingertips gently traced the inside words. "Love like ours lasts forever." Jami said, before setting the ring softly on the table in front of her.
"Has forever ended Jeff?" That question spurred Tasha, Lita, Matt and Edge into action. Tasha and Lita gently pushed Jami from the room while Matt and Edge pulled Jeff further into the room before anything else could be destroyed.
The only question was, had they done it in enough time, or was it all destroyed already?
