Jami bounced nervously on her toes, stretching her neck back and forth. Three amused people watched her, trying to hold back their smiles. Lita leaned over and whispered something to Jeff, who nodded. Just then the Hardy Boyz music started up and Matt and Lita plunged through the curtain as Jami and Jeff watched their entrance on a small TV. "Are you going to be okay?" asked a concerned Jeff. "Oh God, I feel sick!" Jami mumbled. Jeff placed an arm around her shoulders, "Just breathe, it's just nerves. We all get them. It'll pass, just relax! It's going to be fun!" he tried to comfort her. Jami let out a deep breath and leaned against him for support. Both of them turned their attention to the TV to watch Matt's match against Lance Storm. Matt was getting pretty beat up, but somehow he manged to get the cover. They walked to the back where Jami and Jeff were waiting for them. Matt and Lita took in the scene before them of Jeff with his arm around Jami, and her leaning against him. They both realized how it must look with a start and they both pulled away from each other quickly. Embarassed gazes rested back on the TV where the tape they had shot earlier was being played. Then it switched to show Matt sitting on a chair while Lita pulled Jeff aside for a moment.
"Jeff, please, don't let anything happen to my baby sister." Lita begged. "Don't worry, I'll protect her!" he promised.
Jami stiffened as she heard Shane being announced into the ring. Jeff grabbed her hand. "Breathe" was all he said. She nodded and took a deep, shaky breath. Then the Hardy Boyz music started up again. She heard Lillian announce, "And his opponent, hailing from Cameron, North Carolina, weighing 215 pounds, JEFF HARDY! Accompanied to ringside by J. Lynn." Jeff stepped out from behind the curtain, Jami followed him after a few seconds pause. She gave the crowd a confident smile and waved. Jeff ran down to the ring and slid in. Jami ran down the ramp and up the steps. She stood at the turnbuckle. Jeff walked over to her as the music began to die down. He handed her his hardcore belt, and then hesitated for a moment before he leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She looked at him in suprise and he winked at her. She blushed and stepped down to the floor before turning to give the belt to an official.

"That isn't in the script, was it?" a writer asked Vince, in his office. "No, it wasn't, but I think it's time it was added." Vince replied, a sly smiled crossing his face.
***
"That wasn't in the script." Lita said, giving Matt a wide smile. "No, but that's Jeff for you." Matt told her, pulling her close. "Do you think that something will happen between them?" Lita asked him, watching the TV screen. "In real life, or on the show?" Matt asked. Lita thought for a moment, "Both." "I think that the answer is yes in both cases." he answered. "Yeah, I would have to say yes too, juding from the scene we encountered when we got back here earlier." Lita smiled again.

Jami's eyes watched as Jeff flung Shane out of the ring. Shane locked eyes with her, and evil glint in them. Jeff started to slide out of the ring and Shane ran over to where Jami stood. He grabbed her, pushing her in front of him as a shield. "Shane, dude! Let her go!" Jeff shouted at him. Shane backed up, pulling Jami with him. Fear showed in her eyes, but not on her face. Jeff slowly walked towards Shane.
***
"Okay, is no one going to follow the script?!?" the writer screamed in vince's office. "Just see where it goes." was the only reply.
***
"what is he doing?!?" Lita yelled, pulling away from Matt. Matt looked at the screen, stunned. He watched as a crazed looking Shane dragged a helpless Jami around the ring. Jeff followed slowly, his hands up. "I don't know, but Jeff will get her out of it." Lita's only answer was a look of fear.
***
"Shane, just let her go. Come on man, you don't want to hurt her." Jeff said quietly. Shane shot him a look of disgust before tossing Jami to the side. She winced as the side of her ace connected with a barricade. She rolled onto her back and saw Shane stalk off to another side of the ring. Jeff leaned over her, kneeling. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern ebbing his voice. "Yeah, I'll...I'm fine. I just hit the side of my face...but I'm fine." Jami said, starting to get up. Jeff pushed her back down. "Stay" was all he said. Suddenly Jami wrapped her arms around him, placing her face next to his. "he's behind you, with a bell." Jeff nodded, wrapping his arms around Jami. He felt Shane start to bring the bell down and he rolled, bringing Jami with him. He kicked, catching Shane in the gut. Shane doubled over and Jeff lept up, attacking Shane.

Lita let out a deep breath. "Oh God" she muttered, leaning heavily against Matt. "I told you that Jeff would get her out of it. It's amazing what he can do when it's important to him." Matt smiled.
***
Jami cheered as Jeff did the Swanton Bomb and covered Shane for the three count. Jeff danced around the ring for a few moments. Then he hopped down and ran over to where Jami stood clapping and smiling. He grabbed her in a huge hug and swung her around. He sat her down and pulled away, grabbing her face with his hands. "Are you okay?" he asked her again. She nodded, her breath catching as he looked into her eyes. The moment was broken when an official came by to hand Jeff his belt. Jeff took the belt in his hand and wrapped his other arm around Jami. they slowly walked to the back, where they were greeted with a concerned Matt and Lita.
"Jami, are you hurt?" Lita asked, rushing towards her. "I'm fine, thanks to Jeff." Jami smiled up at him. "Come on, let's get you back to the locker room and put some ice on your face." Jeff said, pulling her with him as he walked down the hall.
***
He carefully placed an ice pack on the side of her face. He gently placed a hand under her jaw. "Does it hurt?" he asked. She shook her head, at a loss for words from the way he was looking at her. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I should never have let him anywhere near you." Jeff said, casting his eyes downward. "No!" Jami said, grabbing his hand. "you didn't know that Shane was going to throw the script out. And no one knew he was going to go after me. It's over now...and it's not your fault." Before Jeff could reply, the door burst open and Edge rushed in. "Dude! That was awesome! They gave you one hell of a story line!" he gushed. Jami looked at Matt and Lita, and then to Jeff, before turning her gaze back to Edge. "it wasn't a storyline."
