Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I
did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me.
Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns
either of us). This is the sequel to "Take That Step" , "One Step
Back" and "one Step Forward" you'll find the addresses to those
stories in my signature at the bottom of this email. And I use the wrestlers
wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother suing me...all
you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad
either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know
yet *L*.
Summary:Can Jami take that final step towards Jeff? Or will she forever keep
running away?

Jami sat in her hotel room, listening to the conversation going on around her.
Lita turned to her. "Hey, guess who challanged us to a three-way tag team
match?" she prodded. "who?" Jami asked, thinking but coming up
blank. "Stacy, Jaded and Angel." Lita answered. Jami smirked at that.
"When?" she asked. "Summerslam, but get this. It's not a regular
tag team match...it's a triple bra and panties tag team match." Lita
concluded.
Traci began to choke on her tongue. "They challenged you three to a bra and
panties tag team match? I can't believe it. You guys aren't going to do that,
are you?" Traci asked when she found her voice.
"Why not?" Jami smirked, raising her eyebrows at the group before her.
"You want to do it?" Tasha asked. "Sure. I'll do anything to beat
on Stacy for awhile. And it's not like we'll be naked or anything. Plus, I'll be
back by then. In fact, that can be my first match back 'officially'." Jami
replied.
Matt shook his head as he listened. Then he looked at Edge who had a huge smile
on his face. The guys would definately be taping that match, as well as being at
ringside.

A few hours later Jami was wandering through the hotel, not sure where she was
going. Just walking. Tasha, Edge, Matt and Lita had left her room an hour
earlier, and then she had left, showing the note Jeff had written to her sister.
Jami rounded a corner and ran right into Edge. "What are you doing out
here?" she asked him. "Tasha is talking to Lita in their room, and
Matt is singing in our room, so I went on a walk to save my sanity. What about
you?" he asked.
Jami sighed and showed Edge the note from Jeff. "So, you're on your way
there? You are going the wrong way." he told her. "Well, I'm not quite
on my way there yet. I'm walking around, trying to think." Jami confessed.
Edge looked at her expectantly and Jami leaned against the wall, sliding down to
sit on the floor. "I don't know what I'm going to say to him. I love him
more than anything, and I want to be with him. But I know that when I show up at
his door, he's going to expect me to be the Jami I use to be. But, E., I can't
be. That Jami died along with Joshua Moore Hardy. She can't be brought back to
life. I still hurt so much over our baby's death. And I can't stand to see Jeff
in pain. And he's in pain when I show I'm in pain. But if I don't show my pain,
I lose it like I did, and who knows what stupid thing I'll do next time. So, I'm
in a lose-lose situation." Jami poured her heart out to Edge.
Edge kneeled down in front of her. "Jami, you are underestimating Jeff. He
knows you're hurting. And you need to remember one thing...Jeff lose a baby too.
A part of HIM died with Joshua Moore Hardy. Not only that...he's been thinking
he's lost you at the same time."
Jami looked up into Edge's eyes, letting his words sink in. "Oh God E.,
you're right. I've been so selfish thinking that I lost more than him. How are
we going to get through this?" Jami asked outloud, more to herself than
Edge.
Edge quickly stood and pulled Jami up with him. He grabbed her face in his hands
and forced her to look at him. "You're going to get through this together.
You'll share the pain. You'll love each other back together. You need each
other. Go." he told her gently, before walking off in the opposite
direction.
Jami took a few deep breaths to calm her nerves. Then she quickly walked to
Jeff's room. She stood outside it, trying to convince herself to knock. Then she
heard something coming from his room. She leaned closer and heard him strumming
his guitar. And then she heard his rich voice singing along with it. She
immediently recognized the song as one that had been played a lot over the
radio.
"Can't Say" by 5th Ring was the song. And as Jeff sang the words, Jami
once again felt the world spinning out from under her. Tears flowed freely from
her eyes.
Nothing ever stops the way I feel
I try to get sleep but then you speak to me
From the deep unknown
Suddenly you've gone away
I know I'm out here on my own
In the afterglow
Something in your mind was cold as ice
It was so unfeeling
Something in my heart was saying
Don't go away.
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you went away
But I try to understand
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you couldn't stay
But I try to understand
Everything I Gave to you is gone
Will we ever know
What might have changed those feelings
If our love had grown
Something that I felt inside my heart
Could've been the place where things went wrong
And I just don't know
I never said that we could work it out
And you couldn't feel it
I never said we would end up
Strangers one day
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you went away
But I try to undersand
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you couldnt' stay
But I try to understand
I will always feel the same
Our love is on my mind
I know that you have gone away
But i just don't know
IF it's right
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you went away
But I try to understand
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you couldn't stay
But I try to understand
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you went away
But I try to understand
I can't say why you left me
Don't know why you couldn't stay
But I try to understand
Everything I gave to you is gone.
After the first verse and chorus, she knelt down on her knees, holding her head
in her hands and crying silently. She could hear the pain and heartbreak in
Jeff's voice as he sang. She wasn't sure if she'd have the guts to knock on the
door now. She just wasn't sure she could do anything anymore
