Title: Baby Steps
Author: Jami Lynn
Chapter: 10
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I
did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me.
Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns
either of us). This is the sequel to "Take That Step" , "One Step
Back" and "one Step Forward" you'll find the addresses to those
stories in my signature at the bottom of this email. And I use the wrestlers
wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother suing me...all
you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad
either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know
yet *L*.
Summary: Jami has just learned that Joshua is gone, forever. Can she cope? Or
will Jeff lose her too?
Feedback: I need feedback like I need air! So give it to me, babee!

"Jami...shhhhhh, calm down. It's going to be okay." Jeff comforted.
Jami turned her eyes toward him and he saw the pain in them. "No! It's not
going to be okay! Our baby is dead! And it's all my fault! I killed our baby! He
should be alive and I should be dead!" Jami cried.
"Jami, baby, it's not your fault. You didn't know that the baby was in
danger after you were knocked into the steps! You did not kill our baby. And you
should not be dead. I could not live without you! Please, don't ever think that
again. I love you." Jeff told her, reaching out a hand to stroke her cheek.
Jami layed back down on the bed and curled up into a tight ball. She squeezed
her eyes shut, trying to block everything out. Jeff sighed and decided to go
back out to the waiting room.

The only people left in the waiting room were Stephanie, Shane, Tasha, Lita,
Matt, Edge, Trish and Sara. The others had all left to work the house show that
night.
"Well, she knows about Joshua." Jeff announced to the group. "how
did she take it?" Tasha asked. "Well, she knew about it by the time I
saw her. She cried and blames herself. She thinks she killed him and wishes she
had died instead." Jeff whispered. "Oh God, how awful. poor J. Jeff,
I'm so sorry." Edge said, pain in his eyes.
"Do you think we can see her?" Tasha asked, linking her arm through
Edge's. "I guess so. Follow me." jeff said, as the waiting room group
followed him to her room. Jeff pushed open the door and the group filed in.
Jami had moved from the bed to a chair in the corner of the room. Her legs were
curled up in the chair, with her arms wrapped around them. "Hi Jami, how
are you feeling?" Lita asked. Jami turned emotionless eyes toward teh group
and shrugged.
"I had a baby. He died. They tell me he died. But he can't have died. I
loved him to much. Jeff loved him to much. We loved him to much for him to have
died. It hurts to much. I can't hurt Jeff by letting our baby die." Jami
numbly muttered to teh air, as if she no longer was talking to anyone in the
room. Stephanie pressed a fist to her mouth to keep from crying out loud.
Jeff kneeled down in front of Jami and grabbed her hands. She looked at him and
he could see by her eyes that his Jami was far away from the hospital room. Her
brown eyes were empty. "Jeff...you should go check on the baby. I hear him
crying." Jami told him, her eyes staring through him. Jeff slowly raised
his green eyes to look at his friends, staring heartbroken at Jami.
"Jami, no one is crying. Do you know who is here to see you?" Jeff
asked her softly. Jami looked back at the group. "Yes. Sara, Trish, Steph,
Tash, Lita, Edge, Matt and Shane. Di you guys go see our baby? Matt, he shares
your middle name. Did you see him?" Jami asked, again her eyes looking
through them.
The group looked at each other, unsure of what to say to a distraught Jami.
"No Jami, we didn't go see him" Tasha told her. Stephanie turned and
fled the room in tears. "Steph must be going to see our baby." Jami
said.
Jeff shook his head sadly, not knowing what to say or do to help his wife. He
was afraid her denial would hurt her more in the future, but he couldn't bare to
break the news to her again. He knew it was probably part of the grieving
process. Right now all he could do was hope that his Jami would come back. And
soon. He had never needed her more.
