Charity made her way back to the women's locker room. She was growing frustrated with Amy's constant pouting. "It was her own damn fault." Charity mumbled to herself. She loved Amy like a sister, but sometimes she put the cart before the horse and 'cause everyone to get shit on in the process.
A few nights ago Amy Dumas had dumped her long time boyfriend Matt Hardy. So then last night on Raw, the storyline called for her character to dump Matt on TV. That part she hadn't minded. The part she had minded was when all the fans began to boo her. Amy hated that. And Charity could see why. But still, she had dumped Matt to go out with Adam Copeland (Edge) so this was her shit to clean up. Not Charity's. And that is why Charity was now pacing the backstage area. She had needed a break from Amy's pouting.
Charity was lost in thought until her eyes had caught sight of Matt Hardy watching a monitor during his brother, Jeff's, match. His was so intently focused on it that he hadn't even seen her. Charity stepped behind a TV cart that was back there and her eyes stayed intent upon Matt.
He looked depressed. Much like she herself must look. Charity sighed loudly at the thought. Her own boyfriend, Jason Reso, had just broke up with her two weeks ago. She was still tending to a badly bruised heart over that one.
Charity's eyes widened in suprise as she saw a shadow drape over her. Matthew Moore Hardy now stood in front of her...looking at her confused. "What are you doing hiding back here?" He asked. "Um...just trying to stay clear of Amy for a bit...and I got caught up in thinking about Jason." Charity was willing to admit that much.
"Sounds a lot like my story. Cruel isn't it? How alone you feel? How you feel like no one cares anymore. Just because one person chose not to be in your life." Matt said, his gaze softening.
"People care Matt. Um....I better go." Charity said, making her escape quick, before Matt could say anything more.
***
We've been friends for a long, long time
You tell me your secrets, and I tell you mine
She's left you all alone, and you feel like no one cares
But I have never failed you, and I've always been there
You tell your story, it sounds a bit like mine
It's the same old situation, it happens every time
Can't we see, oh maybe you and me is what's meant to be
Or do we disagree.
***
Charity walked quickly towards the women's locker room now. She was blinking back tears at a frightening rate. 'Damn him! How can he do this to me.' she thought to herself. She tried to catch her breath for a moment, trying to get her rational thinking back.
The moment her eyes had fallen on Matt Hardy, 6 months ago, she had immediently fell in love with him. Jason was her boyfriend of one month at the time, but she knew they would never love each other enough. THey just weren't meant to be. And then she had met Matt. Who was funny, confident, serious...all in one look.
But at the same time, she had cared for Jason. To much to break his heart over a simple tugging at her heartstrings. But then Jason had told her that their relationship wasn't going any further. That he still wanted her as a friend, but that was all. And Charity had understood...a little to well.
"What if I told him." Charity whispered to herself as she leaned against the wall next to the women's locker room door. Would he laugh, think it was some big joke. Walk away? Would she lose the friend she had in him? Hell, would she lose Amy as her friend?
***
What if I told you, what if I said that I love you
How would you feel, what would you think, what would we do
Do we dare to cross that line, between your heart and mine
Or would I lose a friend, or find a love that would never end
What if I said.
***
Matt walked in the direction Charity had gone, wondering if she had seen to much in his eyes. That he had wanted to make her his right then and there. Had he scared her away. Talking to much about how he felt. Was she afraid that he felt something for her. He knew he couldn't lie about it. He did feel something for her. Something that scared even him.
***
He doesn't love you, oh it's plain to see
I can read between the lines of what you're telling me
He doesn't hold you the way a woman should be held
How long can I go on keeping these feelings to myself.
***
Matt walked around a corner and saw Charity leaning against a wall. He stared at her as she wiped a few tears from her eyes. 'Shit, did I make her cry about Jason?' he wondered to himself. He had to strain to hear her next words. "What if I told him?"
***
What if I told you, what if I said that I love you
How would you feel, what would you think, what would we do
Do we dare to cross that line, between your heart and mine
Or would I loose a friend, or find a love that would never end
WHat if I said
***
Matt finally got a grip on himself and walked over to Charity. "Hey. Why did you take off so soon and what's wrong?" Matt asked her quietly, wiping a tear from her cheek. "Um...noth...nothing." She stammered, trying to quickly think of something. "I...I...uh...am crying because I just slammed my hand in the door." Charity mumbled, holding up her left hand as if that would prove it.
"oh, I'm sorry...let me help." Matt said as he gently kissed it. Charity's eyes widened, whether in shock or fear, she wasn't sure. All she knew was that suddenly her world was spinning at a rather fast speed. "Wh..wh...what?" Charity stammered again.
"I want to help it feel better. Just like love can heal a broken heart...I thought maybe love could fix your hand. Is that what hurts?" Matt asked.
***
Oh, we've both had our share of loneliness
So who's to say we can't have a little happiness
And if I found that in you
It would make my dreams come true
Or would you walk away
Hear what I have to say?
***
"I...I...think so." Charity said. 'Great...way to smooth talk him.' she thought silently to herself. "What...What if I wanted to tell you something. Something that would change our friendship. What would you say?" Matt asked her suddenly.
"Um...I'd probably say.....talk to me. I would probably have something to say too. Bu the question is...do you dare cross that line?" Charity asked, finding a sudden confidence in herself. Matt looked at her for another second before kissing her hand again.
***
So what if I told you, what if I said, that I love you
HOw would you feel, what would you think, what would we do
Oh, do we dare to cross that line between your heart and mine
Oh, I've always wondered, from the day that we met
WHat if I said, what if I said, ooo ooo ooo, what if I said
