Kurt Angle stared hopelessly ahead of him as his car crawled at a snail-like pace towards his house. His first urge was to speed through the small town his house was by, but he knew if he did that there was a chance that he'd get pulled over. And that just wasn't something that he needed tonight, out of all nights.
Kurt glanced at the clock on his dashboard and groaned as the numbers flipped to read 3:30. He worriedly glanced at the sky and saw the dark, ominious clouds hanging low overhead. It had already been raining for an hour. The thunder echoing in his head, while the lightening dashed before his eyes.
Kurt clenched the steering wheel as he finally sped up, nearing his home. He knew she would be up. She was always up during Thunder storms. For some reason, it wasn't that she was scared of them, just that she enjoyed them. But he knew this one was going to be one neither of them enjoyed.

Three thirty in the morning
Not a soul insight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
***
Alexis pulled her hair nervously around her finger. She was pacing by the big bay windows in their house, waiting for the familiar sound of his car pulling up. "It's probably just the weather. I bet he just stayed in town instead of coming out here with this storm." She said to herself. But she knew that wasn't it.
Alexis thoughtfully chewed on the ends of her hair, a nervous habit she thought she had gotten rid of. The wind was blowing hard against the window, and she shivered even though she was warm in her flannel gown. Her green eyes nervously watched the lighening zigzagging outside.
***
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That's kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
***
Alexis gulps as she sees a pair of headlights wash over her. She glances out the window to make sure it's Kurt's car, before she runs to the door. She throws it open and without any hesitation she runs into the driveway barefooted to greet him.
She runs up to him as he stands by the car, and she starts to throw her arms around him. But she stops suddenly. Even with all the wind and rain, she can smell it. He wasn't even trying to hide it this time. Stephanie McMahon's perfume hung heavily in the air.
***
She's waitin' by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him
Thankful he's alive
But on the wind and rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
***
Alexis remains still as the water soaked her. Her gown now clung to her like a cold wet sheet. But her eyes were on fire. Kurt looked into them, guilt spreading across his face. As the ligtening flash, he saw the hurt in her eyes. She knew.

The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls

Alexis turned and fled back in the house. Kurt entered the house slowly behind her and he could hear her wet feet slapping against the hardwood floor. He hears her enter the bedroom and slam the door. He wearily begins to walk down the hallway where their bedroom was. He gulped nervously.
It took him only a moment to recognize the next sound the echoed down their hallway. It wasn't thunder. It was a gunshot.
***
[3rd Verse:]
She runs back down the hallway
To the bedroom door
She reaches for the pistol
Kept in the dresser drawer
Tells the lady in the mirror
He won't do this again
Cause tonight will be the last time
She'll wonder where he's been
