Song fic Title: It's My
Job To Fall
Written by: Jami Lynn
The song belongs to Rebecca Lynn Howard. It's not mine. Don't sue. The
characters of Bailey and Trent belong to me. Take them and my ferret
muses will attack you and make you wish you were never born...much
like they do me.
Summary: You swore you'd never cry in front of a man who was leaving
you. But what if you don't get the choice? Takes place in the usual
gas station. Hey, I'm working through some issues.
Bailey shivered violently even though the temperature was warm inside
the building. The moment he had come in the door, her heart had
dropped into her stomache and her stomache was doing it's best to flip
it back into the proper position.
"Hey." she said quietly, afraid that if she opened her mouth much
more, then the words she was dying to say would come flowing out.
"So, are you going to tell me why you are mad at me?" Trent asked as
he leaned against the counter. He was tall enough that his body
brought his face just a few mere inches from her. The face that she
had memorized. He was looking into the face that he had sworn he was
trying to memorize at one time.
"You're with her. That's reason enough for me to be pissed." Bailey
found herself saying and wondered where the words were coming from. Of
course he was with her. The ex girlfriend that he had claimed had
drove him crazy and insane. The one he claimed to hate. The one he was
sharing his bed with yet again.
Bailey couldn't help that the tears started to gather in her eyes. She
hurt. She had wanted so badly to make this one relationship work. To
have one plus sign on her relationship card. But now he was giving her
this bewildered _expression as the tears filled her eyes.
***
I am a tear,I've been here before
I know her perfumed fingers
I know the cold,cold floor
You look as if you don't
Understand me at all
When she can't help herself
It's my job to fall
***
Bailey hated that the tears had gathered so soon. She had sworn to
never cry in front of a man. To never let him see how he had hurt her.
But here she was this quivering mass of emotions.
She was so tired of crying. Of curling up in her bed, the covers
pulled up over her head trying to shut the world out. Every other guy
in her life had left her with tears streaming down her face. She had
been told she was unloveable. Worthless. A bitch. And she had hoped
this time would be different.
***
I could tell you stories
That you would not believe
No,I am not the first
There've been millions of me
Every time you leave her, every time you don't talk
She fights the weakness in her knees
But it's my job to fall
***
She had cried herself to sleep the night before. Knowing that he was
wrapped up in her arms. Had been for the last few nights, more than
likely. And that killed her. It made her chest swell with pain, her
head felt like bursting, tears clogged her throat.
She knew she shouldn't have fallen for him. But she went ahead and did
it. She believed his smooth lines. When he told her she was the most
beautiful girl to him, she had believed it. When he said he loved her
personality, she had believed it. When he promised to never leave her,
that she wasn't a rebound, that he wasn't playing her, she had
believed it. At one time she had even told him that he was to good to
be true. That's when she should have known. If something is to good to
be true, then it probably isn't true.
***
Oh,it's my job to help her
Through the long and lonely night
To lead her into sleep
When she give out with the fight
Her heart's out of control, you always make it crawl
But I serve the lover
It's my job to fall
***
"I didn't promise you anything Bailey. We only went out a few times. I
never told you that I wouldn't go back to her." Trent said. Bailey
looked up at him and her heart constricted when she saw the
patronizing look in his eyes.
"You played me!" she hissed at him, furious at herself for being
duped. "What the fuck ever. Don't even play that with me. I didn't
play you. I made no promises to you!" Trent spat at her.
"Those things you said to be. Those were all lies. You played with me
Trent. But I don't care anymore." Bailey told him, trying to extort a
cold look into her eyes. "I didn't fucking play you. Don't pin this on
me." Trent shot at her before storming out.
The tears slid from Bailey's eyes as she followed him out and saw him
starting his car. "Fine. Bye." She shouted, not sure why she even
bothered. "Oh, is that how it's going to be?" Trent yelled back as
Bailey stormed inside the building.
***
Love comes from the heart
But I come from the soul
Love always shows its card
But I wait until you go
But tonight her soul cried out for you
And I had to back the call
You never should have seen me
But it's my job to fall
***
Bailey pounced furiously into the building, the door slamming shut
behind her, echoing. With a growl of frustration she kicked the wall
and then punched it. Suprised that it made her feel a bit better she
quickly punched it again.
And that's when the tears began to fall quickly down her cheeks. After
all, that was their job.

Oh,it's my job to help her
Through the long and lonely night
To lead her into sleep
When she give out with the fight
Her heart's out of control, you always make it crawl
But I serve the lover
It's my job to fall
I am a tear,I've been here before
