Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me. Tasha owns herself. And don't bother suing me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.

"Jaylynn, can we talk?" Shane Helms asked from behind her. Jaylynn refused to turn around, instead she continued to apply her lip gloss while looking in the mirror. "You do realize that you are in the women's locker room?" she asked, refusing to let her eyes meet his in the mirrors reflection.

"Yeah, well, Trish isn't here, in fact, nobody is in here, so I don't have to worry about being beaten up." he joked. Jaylynn let her eyes meet his in the mirror finally, cocking one eyebrow, "Don't be so sure of that." she told him cooly.

Shane sighed heavily, "So your still angry with me?" Jaylynn threw the lipgloss on the floor before turning to face him. Her nose come to his chest, but she refused to feel at all intimidated. Instead she tilted her face up, and huffed, "Am I still angry with you? What the hell did you expect? Me to hand you a dozen roses? Crown you? Put out a red carpet?"

"I don't know what I expected, but this isn't it." Shane replied honestly. "What, am I not supposed to be bitter? Not be angry or hurt?" Jaylynn asked.

"Can you please just calm down for a moment and let me tell you how sorry I am?" Shane pleaded. "No Shane, we both have matches to get ready for. I want you to just leave me the hell alone for now." Jaylynn said.

"Just please...forgive me. If you don't, I'll just worry about it all night." Shane pleaded again. "No, I'm not going to tell you that I forgive you just to ease your mind. I don't forgive you, at least not yet. You really hurt me. Badly. Leave." Jaylynn told him, blinking back tears.

Shane sighed dejectedly but left without saying another word.

Jaylynn finished lacing up her wrestling boots, and with one last glance over in the mirror, she left the locker room. SHe walked along the oddly deserted hallway, goosebumps appearing on her flesh as she realized that the arena was too quiet. Way to quiet. Jaylynn shivered, even though the arena was warm.

Finally she found a group of wrestlers and crew members huddled near the exit, waiting. "What's going on?" Jaylynn whispered as she moved to stand next to Matt Hardy. She was afraid to speak above a whisper, and it didn't suprise her when Matt spoke in a quiet tone.

"It's Shane. There was an accident in the ring." was all Matt said. A horrified look appeared on Jaylynn's carefully made up face. "What happened?" she asked, her voice sounding shellshocked.

"Not completely sure. Someone said that Jay had Shane in position for the unprettier, but that Shane moved for some reason...and he landed completely on his face. How he landed 'caused Jay to be thrown off balance and he landed on Shane. Shane was knocked out from the blow, so none of us is sure on his condition. The medics are out there now, and they'll wheel him through here to get to the ambulance." Matt told her.

Just as he said that the medics came into view, a stretcher rolling with them. Jaylynn saw a grim look on their features and her eyes finally looked at Shane's face. Blood covered most of his face, distorting anything she might have been able to see if tears hadn't been blurring her vision.

Even through the tears she could tell his eyes were closed and what sking wasn't covered by blood was completely white. SHe was suprised to find herself moving towards the stretcher. She was even more suprised to feel a pair of arms wrapping around her waist to hold her back.

Without thinking she turned and leaned against the other person's chest, too horrified to even cry. "Jaylynn, I know your upset, but you have to gather your head and go do your match." Shane McMahon spoke to the woman wrapped in his arms.

Jaylynn nodded and numbly moved to the gorilla position. When her music hit an extremely long six minutes later, she finally felt relief as Jaylynn disappeared and Angel took over.
