Title: Even Angels Fall
Author: Jami Lynn
Chapter: 12
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me. Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns either of us).  And I use the wrestlers wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother suing me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know yet *L*.

Jaylynn stepped out of the locker room shower, a towel wrapped around her. She quickly got dressed in her street clothes before going off to look for Nora Greenwald. She found her talking with Matt Hyson (Spike Dudley) outside the men's locker room.

"Hey Nora! Matt." Jaylynn greeted. "Hey Jaylynn. I was just telling Nora how great the segment looked." Matt smiled.

"I thought it looked good from where I was standing to! Did you hear how loud the crowd popped for you Nora?" Jaylynn asked. Nora smiled, "That was pretty neat. Getting cheered instead of boo'd. I think I'm going to like this storyline." Nora said.

Before Jaylynn could reply the locker room door opened and Jeff Hardy stepped out. He stepped next to Jaylynn, staring at her coldly while she stared back, unsure. Jeff blinked and then moved on down the hallway. Jaylynn closed her eyes and turned her face away, upset by the change in attitude.

Matt and Nora shifted uncomfortably. "What was that about?" Matt asked. "I blew him off last week...and I think he's still pissed." Jaylynn said.

Jaylynn sat in her hotel room, munching on popcorn, watching some late night TV show. Her eyes were on the TV, but her mind was far away from Lucy's latest adventure.

Instead her mind was back in the locker room talking to Amy days ago. She had refused to think about their conversation, but now she knew she had to think about it. She knew that no one would disturb her because lately she had been checking into hotels away from the others and under the name Lynn Jay. The guys prided themselves on being so smart, but none of them had figured it out yet.

Jaylynn rolled the words Amy had said within her head. First off there was this Katrina chick. Obviously someone Shane McMahon had been with while still married to his wife. And someone that Shane Helms had obviously been in love with. Could they be just using her as a pawn in this game since Katrina had left. Could she be Helms' revenge? Could she be Shane M's way of proving that he could ge the girl and it hadn't been just a fluke? Or did they both really care for her, that Katrina was just a coincidence.

Jaylynn's heart stopped as Amy's words pushed through her mind. "I think that Shane McMahon really does love you...And I think Shane Helms honesty loves you too."

Could Shane Helms...love her? She knew they had a physical attraction, a rather intense one at that. But she had never taken the time to explore her feelings. Truthfully, she was afraid to. She didn't even want to consider the fact that she may have fallen in love with Shane Helms.

She had made a choice. A choice to be with Shane McMahon. A choice that she didn't regret, because she honestly did love him. But was it possible that she had fallen in love with two men? Two completely different guys, total opposites of each other?

Jaylynn shook her head violently. All this thinking was giving her a headache. But she couldn't shake the thoughts from her mind. She didn't know for sure how she felt about Helms, but could he love her? Jaylynn shook her head once again. This was doing her no good.

Shane Helms tossed in his bed, trying to shut his mind off. He had pushed the thought that Jaylynn could be in love with him and that he could very well be in love with her, away every night, but tonight, they wouldn't leave him alone.

He knew he cared for her, but could it lead beyond friendship? The kiss they had shared gave him a resounding yes. What if he was in love with her? What could he do about it? She was with Shane McMahon, a man he had fought before and lost to. He had vowed to never fall in love again, but...here he was at 3 a.m. thinking about her.

***

Shane McMahon downed his drink and quickly poured another. He stared into the brandy, bleary eyed. The only way he could sleep these last few nights was with either sleeping pills or alcohol. Tonight it was alcohol's turn to comfort him.

He was worried he had lost Jaylynn for good. She was pissed. And he knew that Helms or Hardy were more than willing to take his place. The ratio to men vs women in the federation was unbalanced so he was sure there were other guys who'd also be more than willing to take his place in her bed.

Shane slammed his glass down, sloshing the liquid over the edge. This was pathetic. He'd have to make her listen to him. He had to. He couldn't lose her. Not after everything.
