Chunin of the Funakoshi Clan
Yoshi is the �princess� of her clan. As the youngest member of the Funakoshi�s founding family, she was groomed to eventually lead the clan as a rare female jonin. Her parents moved to the US and settled in St. Louis, MO, when she was four, in order to help her father�s uncle and the current jonin, Tanemura Funakoshi, with the US operations of their family-owned toy company. Forced to practice her ninjutsu while her American friends played, she grew to resent her training and became rebellious.
Finally, when she was twelve, her father grew tired of her insolence. Having heard that Tanemura, who had retired from the toy business, was proudly training a promising student in his new hometown of Jameston, Kuji Funakoshi moved his wife and daughter to Tanemura�s small, Southern Missouri town.
At first, Yoshi resented Jamie for being the model to which she was compared. Eventually, his pure kindness won her over. This didn�t, however, serve to make her take her training any more seriously.
That changed the day that the Togakura attacked her parents� home. They killed her mother easily, but Kuji, whose skill with the ninja-to was legendary, was only defeated when his concern for his daughter outweighed his concern for himself.
Escaping only with the timely intervention of Jamie and his friends, Yoshi felt that her lack of fighting prowess had caused her parents� deaths. She resolved to not only learn to defend herself, but also to surpass even her father�s skill with the sword.
