Christian Honor Student
When Shawnas grandfather died, her formerly loving mother became bitter. She began to take her frustrations out on her teen-age daughter. When one of Shawnas friends reported this to a teacher, Shawna was taken to a foster-care home in the nearby town of Aurthur, while her mother underwent counseling.
Shawnas foster parents treated her well. They were happy and affectionate toward one another. She became especially fond of their daughter, Alexandria. Both shared a love of learning and became fast friends. Shawna often helped the younger girl with her homework and they teamed up to tease Alexs younger brother.
Alexandrias family was also a church-going bunch. She went to church with them every Sunday and Wednesday. She also attended the youth meetings with Alex on Monday nights. After two weeks, she accepted Christ as her Savior.
Although Shawna has since returned home to her rehabilitated mother, she still keeps in touch with her foster family. She drives the fourteen miles to go the same church, never missing a service. This puzzles her agnostic mother, but she doesnt prevent Shawna from going. Shawnas most heartfelt prayer is to see her mother saved.
Shawna has developed an attraction to Jamie Raleigh, a bashful student in her class. His kind heart has shown through to her, but his shyness makes it difficult to tell if her feelings are reciprocated.
