The Ku Kux Klan

The Klan takes it name from the Greek word kuklos, which means circle. Founded in 1866 by Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate General, in Pulaski, Tennessee, they would go on "night rides," during which they would terrify the empowered former slaves of the South in an effort to keep them from voting. They would also lynch anyone that they considered a great threat to continued white supremacy in the South. The Klan was put down by President Grant in 1871.

In 1915, William J. Simmons started the cult back up. Over the years, they have terrorized families, beaten women and children, destroyed homes and murdered innocent people for their "cause."
