About Me:
I am originally from a small
town in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan called Grayling. I come
from a very large extended family who are mostly in fields that involve
law or military of some sort, so I am the first person in my family to
become a teacher. I have always wanted to be an educator from
the time I was first asked what I wanted to be when I "grow-up."
Growing up, I was surrounded by people
and animals of all sorts, exposing me to a variety of lifestyles and experiences.
I was brought up to value a good education and respect those around me.
Without my family and friends, I would not be the person I am today.
I owe everything to them for giving me the morals and values I possess.
I have obtained my Associate's
Degree through Kirtland Community College which is located in Roscommon,
Michigan, and my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education
K-8 from Montana State University-Bozeman.
My hobbies consist of cheerleading,
dance, rollerblading, snowboarding, hiking, exercising, bike riding, music,
playing with my dogs, making quilts and of course, eating chocolate. My
senior year in high school, I tried out and made the American Cheerleading
Federation (ACF) All-American Cheerleading Squad which qualified me to
perform during halftime of the 1999, Florida Citrus Bowl (The one where
University of Michigan beat Arkansas). I also coached eight different
middle school cheerleading squads and choreographed their halftime routines.
I have received many awards
and honors during school, both high school and college. These awards
are The National Honors Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students,
The National Deans List and multiple scholarships which paid my way through
Kirtland Community College.

Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that the education
and happiness of my students is the most important aspect of my career.
Since I will be spending more time with these children than their parents
during the school week, they are my main concern. One of my goals
as a teacher is to make my students feel comfortable in the classroom and
want to learn. To do this, I need to keep them interested in school
by provinding ample and diverse ways for them to prove themselves.
My students will all have the chance to shine all year long because they
all deserve it.
To be effective in the classroom,
I need to use a variety of techniques to reach every child. Howard
Gardiner proved that people of all ages learn in a wide range of ways.
He called this Howard Gardiner's Multiple Intelligences. His findings
have proved to me that because a child may be failing doesn't mean that
he or she can not learn, but that the instructor is not using the nine
different ways to help that child learn. If the teacher only works
in a linguistic way and the child learns kinesthetically, that child is
being set up for failure. I, as a teacher, vow to eliminate this
from my classroom and teach in a wide range of tactics to ensure
the best eductation my students can receive. Otherwise, I will fail
in not only my career but in their eyes and in my dream.
