Lesson plan by Jamie Fein

Day 9

What’s on for today:

The class will examine the words in Ferdinand’s journal and decide what he is not saying.

What to do:

  1. Have the students pair up and spilt half of the class to work on pages 83-88 and the other half to work on pages 88-93.
  2. The students will then write a speech on what Ferdinand is not saying.  They are going to make believe they are going to a meeting for people who do not speak the complete truth or what is exactly on their mind.  They will write the speech on the handout sheet.
  3.  The students will then form a circle and the class will make believe they are at a self help meeting and give their speech.

Homework:

Read pages 130-144 and write what Miranda is not saying

The class was a success if:

-The students were able to understand Ferdinand’s character and fill in the missing   pieces of his journal, what language is he not using.

- Students are able to distinguish the character’s language and personality traits and fill in the missing language for Miranda as well
