Day  3

What’s on for Today:

Take the saying of the day “ What Water is to the Body, Purpose is to the Mind” and try to come up with how purposeful the narrator’s mind is.

What to do:

  1. Read the quote “ What Water is to the Body, Purpose is to the Mind”
  2. Ask them what they think it means
  3. Discuss the house that the narrator buys for his plan
  4. Have students read selected passages about the preparation the narrator put into the house
  5. break the class up into five groups, each group will read pgs16-22
  6. Each group will find some examples in the text where  What Water is to the Body, Purpose is to the Mind” is the theme.
  7. Students will then write up their own journal entry for the class in the narrator’s point of view, why his mind is so purposeful.

Homework:

Write a journal entry for a time in your life where you followed the quote “What Water is to Body, Purpose is to Mind”

The Class was a Success if:

-         students were able to apply the quote to the text

-         students were able to cut the text to focus on the quote

-     students were able to apply to quote to their own life
