Last night I went to The Calling concert with John...it was incredible. Alex Band has such an amazing voice...
The Calling came on stage at 10...and blew the place away. They started with 'Final Answer' and played all the songs off the album, with a new song and a cover of U2s 'One'. 'Stigmatized' was incredible...they added an extra verse at the end, which I had heard, and which I now think is the best part of the song. At the end, after the encore ('Just That Good' followed by 'Adrienne') Billy (the bass player) pulled off his shirt, dropped his pants, and was carried out in his boxers by Nate (the drummer).

So, I knew that they come out after every show to sign autographs, so we waited around for a half hour. They came out, and we were all lined up on the sidewalk. Nate and Dino (the new guy) came over and signed stuff, and then Alex was at the other end. I went over there, and he signed my shirt and my CD cover. While he was writing, I told him that he had an amazing voice. He's like "oh, thanks. and thank you so much for coming to the show. it means so much to us" and then took a picture with me (which turned out good, but I look awful...he's like half the width of me, so I look really huge. plus, I was standing in front of him. Man, is he skinny!) Trying to start a tradition, I went farther down the line and when he came over, I asked him to take a picture of himself with my camera. He took my camera and laughed, and everyone around me laughed, and I don't know if he knew I was serious. So he goes "Why don't you take a picture of me? Actually, why don't you take a picture with me? I'm sure it would be much more entertaining" I'm like "hey, you never know." So he pulled me over and gave my camera to another girl, who took the picture. And Billy came out later, too. They are so, so nice. There must have been about 50 to 100 people there, and they stayed until all of the people had met them. We were there 45 minutes, and then left before they were done, too. Aaron came out after we left, but that's ok...we were famished and it was almost 1...
A few things I noticed.
~Billy and Nate are really funny
~Alex approaches every fan before he leaves that area
~Alex is taller than he looks (but still skinny as hell)
~They are so sweet.

Thanks to Calling fan Lia for letting me republish her notes.

"I took off to Milwaukee, Wisconsin next with a crashed up, no power bus, and a big muddy bruised arm, but in good spirits. Almost a year ago now, which is amazing to think how time has flown by, we started our first big tour in Milwaukee with LifeHouse and Michelle Branch on September 10th. All my memories of the tragedies of the 11th took place right there in Milwaukee during the 4 days we were stuck in the hotel, so it felt strange going back to play The Rave. But now we could go there in a much better light and we played one of the best shows we've ever done. A really really great crowd took us over that night and will be locked in my memory forever. Some of our most dedicated group of fans that have been to so many shows gave me this HUGE banner that has little signed notes and messages all over it from fans across the US...F*cking awesome gift! Thank you guys!

Yesterday's outdoor show takes the melting cake for the hottest experience of my life, way hotter than Cleveland...110 degrees to be precise. It was even too hot to wear a jacket, duh. The show was with LifeHouse of all bands which was strange knowing Sean was there, but all was good and we watched each other's shows from the side of the stage. I swear I thought I was going to drop dead 30 minutes into our set because of the stupid heat. At the last second of our closing song I literally dropped my mic, ran like hell back to our air conditioned bus while ripping my clothes off, pored water over my head, quickly punched in the code to our bus which is: ....I'm not giving you the combo! What do you think I'm nuts? O.K. O.K. I am, but no way! Anywho, I threw the door open and seriously fell to my hot sticky death on the still muddy tour bus floor. I laid there for an hour or two or three and well, here we are. So now your all up to date. This tour has been a blast so far and I'm excited to keep it going.

We've got our third video shoot coming up for the next single which is going to be 'Could it be Any Harder', so you'll hopefully start hearing it on the radio next month..." Alex B.
