Sora and Biyomon

"You’ve got mail!" Sora’s computer chirped in mock-excitement. Sora yawned and got out of bed. Hadn’t she turned the darn thing off?

It was an e-mail message from Genai! What on Earth was Genai doing sending e-mail to her? She didn’t use her computer for much, but e-mail from Genai…well, Izzy would understand it better, but she might as well try.

"You’re not Izzy!" Genai exclaimed as the live e-mail turned on. "I always get Izzy!"

"Then why did you e-mail me?"

"I didn’t," Genai frowned. "I sent a signal targeted for a Digidestined. Naturally I assumed I’d get Izzy.

"You didn’t," Sora informed him. "Now I don’t why or how you called me, but make it quick, okay? My mom is trying to sleep."

"Fine, fine. I called because I’m picking up readings that could mean only one thing."

"What’s that?"

"Either someone’s uncovered that pro wrestling isn’t fake after all, or there are more Digidestined than I thought. I haven’t seen this kind of a power level since Frigimon caught a Neumomon with his sister!"

"More Digidestined?" Sora asked, ignoring the other comments. "But…isn’t that impossible?"

"Bingo," Genai replied. "I made eight crests, and then two more for backup. Ten crests. But I’m getting a reading of double that. Twenty crests, and I didn’t make them."

"Well, who could have?"

"No one that’s just the thing. Me and the other guardians who made you the Digidestined have special powers, we were the only ones who could possibly make a crest, or a tag, or a digivice for that matter, and I’m picking up an energy signature of ten more of each!"

"Energy signature? How did you find any of this out, anyway?"

"My Mechanorimon suit! It contains a special computer."

"The important part is, if Izzie cannot be contacted, we must find him. It is very important. Will you help me?"

"Help you?" Sora cried. "Where are you? You’re in the digiworld, right?"

"I am outside Odaiba High School. Hey, I may not get out much, but have a right to leave the digiworld. It wasn’t easy, but it’s possible!"

Sora scratched her head, taking everything in. "Right. Okay, what do I do?"

"Your digivice. Is there anyone nearby that you can contact?"

Sora looked at her digivice. "Nothing. I’m going to try the phone."

"Who are you calling?" Biyomon, who had just woken up, chirped. Then she noticed Genai. "Wow! How’d he get here?"

"Wait!" Genai cried. "You’ll break the connection. At least put it on offline mode, then call."

Sora fiddled the control list until she found something that looked right, then made a mental note to get Izzy and Jamie to teach her electronics. Then she tried calling.

"Hello? Mr. Ishida? Is Matt available? Oh, I’ll call later."

"Ms. Izumi? Can you put Izzy on the line? What time is it? Okay, I’ll call back in the morning."

"May I speak to Mimi? This is her friend Sora. Her door’s locked? That doesn’t sound like Mimi…oh well, I’ll try again later."

"Mr. Burnet? Yes, I am aware that it is three. So, is that a no, Jamie isn’t available?"

"Hello, Mrs. Kamiya, this is Sora. Is Tai or Kari available? No? Alright?"

"Dr. Kido, may I speak with Joe? No, this is not a prank call…well, tell me when he gets back from camp."

"They’re all busy?" Sora cried. "Asleep, or gone all day, or doors locked, and Joe’s a camp councilor. But it’s very strange they’d all be missing in some way."

Biyomon was peering out the window at something. "Sora…"

"Biyomon, I’m really busy, and I have to hurry if I’m to get some sleep. How do I get this thing to tack Digidestined?"

"But Sora…"

"Biyomon, I told you not to bother me!"

"No, Biyomon."

A figure approached on the apartment balcony outside was looking through Sora’s window. A female figure.

With a hat.

And red hair.

And a Biyomon, sneering.

"Oh no, Biyomon," she said. "We can’t have you bothering Sora."

Tai, Augumon, Kari, and Gatomon

"Tai!" Tai’s mom said. The time was 7:00. Mrs. Kamiya believed in early rising. More the pity for Tai.

"Tai, I won’t call you again!"

"Lets experiment on that," Tai mumbled into his pillow. "I’ll stay in bed for five more minutes, an lets see if she’ll call me."

"Tai!"

"So far, so good."

"Tai, I’ll count to five, and you had better be out of that bed!"

"One…two…two and a half…three!"

"Just a little longer…"

"Taichi Kamiya!" Tai’s mom said, guessing what he was doing. "Hurry up!"

Tai poked his out the doorway of his room. "Yes ma’am? Reporting for night shift, ma’am!"

"Night shift indeed," Mrs. Kamiya playfully whacked Tai in the back of the head with a newspaper. "At ease, soldier," she grinned, sliding him a pancake.

"Ah, mom," Tai grinned, embarrassed. "My breakfast is smiling at me!"

"You used to love smiley-face pancakes," Mrs. Kamiya pointed out.

"Until he found out he had to eat the poor thing," Kari joked from the sofa.

"Say, where’s Augumon this morning?" Tai asked.

"Don’t know," Mrs. Kamiya said. "Oh, and that reminds me, your girlfriend called you last night."

Tai was totally dumbfounded. "I have a girlfriend? Really? What’s her name?"

"Sora Something, Mrs. Kamiya said thoughtfully. "It began with T…"

"Sora isn’t my girlfriend!" Tai said indignantly.

"Sora and Taichi, sittin’ in a tree!" Kari sang.

"She called you at three-o’clock in the morning," Mr. Kamiya spoke up for the first time, quickly drinking his coffee. "Say hello to her for me, whoever she is."

"What’s wrong, Meeko?" Kari asked the cat, who was freaking out. "You want to go out?"

Karin opened the apartment door in horror to discover that Meeko…had found Augumon and Gatomon.
