Molvi (respected) Allah Buksh <may Allah be pleased with him> was born in Punjab province of Pakistan in the district of Jhang in the year 1881 to Mian Khairuddin (father) who was of "Sadozai Pathan" family.
Mian Khairuddin's grand-parents were judges during the era of the Mogul Empire. However during the British rule they were forced to work in the fields and thus passed their lives. They maintained their Islamic values and taught people about Islam. Their library containing many books had caught fire and in it books centuries old were destroyed. Allah Buksh was the youngest of all his brothers and sisters. As a young boy he would rear calves and spend most of his time in the jungle near the river. One day he had a dream in which he saw a cobra standing in front of his face. Suddenly a man appeared and hit the snake killing it instantly. Allah Buksh asked the man who he was to which the man replied "Golarawi" (persom from Golara). On waking up Allah Buksh found himself drenched in sweat from the dream. Later he asked around about who was "Golarawi" and the local people told him that Pir Meher Ali Shah (very pious man) was known as "Golarawi". After a couple of weeks Allah Buksh found out that Pir Mehr Ali Shah was arriving at a nearby village from Golara Sharif. He immedietly went to the village to meet the man and to his surprise he was the same person who hit the snake in his dream. Pir Mehr Ali Shah preached about prayer and spiritually guided Allah Buksh to be more firm on the course of Islam.
He was so spiritually motivated that one day he set out to see Pir Mehr Ali Shah by foot. Starting from Jhang to Golara Sharif (near present day Islamabad) approximately 400 kilometers.
After a gap of around 25 years Allah Buksh felt that to attain higher spirituality a thorough knowledge of Islam is mandatory. He went to Pir Mehr Ali Shah to ask for prayers to make Islam easy for him inspite of his age-40 years- for a better understanding of Islam. He came back to his village and saw someone in his dream teaching him the various subjects of Islam. On waking up he thought that this was any old dream. However for 7 consecutive nights the same man came in his dream to teach him. After this Allah Buksh felt an obligation to find this person. So he said goodbye to his family and set out to find this man who was teaching him in his dreams. After many weeks of going village to village he saw some people carrying a dead-body (coffin) to the grave-yard. Amoung those people was the same man who was teaching him in his dreams. Allah Buksh approached the man who saw him and signalled with his hands to stay quiet. Later he was taken to the man's school. Allah Buksh was started on primary level books of Islam and was also the eldest in the school. His age was 40 while the other students studying secondary and higher levels were all less than 20 years old.. During his time there he wouls clean the school bring fire-wood and do chores for his teacher etc.
After a month his teacher had to go somewhere for 3 days. The younger students asked their teacher before he left about who will give the lessons. The teacher pointed towards Allah Buksh and said " Take lessons from him". The younger students and Allah Buksh thought this as a joke. The next day the students gathered around Allah Buksh and to tease him asked him to teach them as instructed by the teacher before leaving. Allah Buksh knew the spiritual strength of his teacher and told the students to come along for the lesson. By the miracle of Allah he was able to teach all the students till the highest level of that school for 3 days. The students were shocked and on their teacher's arrival they asked him why was Allah Buksh only in primary when he was able teach secondary and higher levels to which the teacher replied "Only the mother knows the secrets of the deaf & dumb child" After sometime Allah Buksh felt the need to buy some land and bought 25 acres in Rampur (in India). After the purchase was told to Pir Mehr Ali he was told not to go to Rampur. After this Allah Buksh never set foot nor enquired about the land he bought in Rampur. Nearing his fifties Allah Buksh had a dream in which he saw a place and was told that this was his place and two words "sindh,Meerus". He set out again this time travelling to Sindh province on his own for the first time by train. He came down at the main junction of Sindh called "Rohri". There he enquired about a place called "Meerus" and was told that there was a place called "Khairpur Meerus". At each station in Khairpur he got off and travelled approximately 10 kilometers east and west of the station (enough to reach the station by sundown) in search of this land he saw in his dream. One day he came down at "Kotlaloo" station and was travelling east from the station when he finally saw the land he was looking for. He bought 250 acres of land and that was the focal point where the Madrasa and my village are at present.
Allah Buksh's son Ghulam Ahmed bought more land around the original 250 acres and further established himself in Kotlaloo. Allah Buksh then dissaciated himself from the land and spent the remaing fifty years studying and teaching Islam. During this time he accumulated many books and formed a library which is present to this day. |
