Recently, the "Magazine of Virginia Genealogy" has been publishing entries in the "Allason Papers: Shenandoah Store Day Book, 1761-1763." This was a store opened by William Allason, a merchant from Falmouth, VA, in Winchester, Frederick Co., VA. The only Turners listed in these papers have been HENRY TURNER and SARAH TURNER. It is unclear whether these are for SARAH TURNER, wife of HENRY TURNER. One of the entries was listed as MISS SARAH TURNER; all of the other entries were simply listed as SARAH TURNER."6Will: MURPHY, Darby.

Jan. 2, 1919 http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/T/TURNER+1997+340556857+F Turner Family which lived in the Boiling Springs area of Spartanburg County,SC, documenting a family headed by Henry Turner Sr. and his children Lewis, Darby, William, Henry Jr., Samuel, Nancy Turner Bishop, Sarah Turner Sartain (Jacob Sartain), John and James Turner.
Lewis Turner was a pensioned Revolutionary Soldier and his Bible record, which was included in his pension file, contained death dates for Henry Turner Sr. and Jr., William, and the two sisters. Additionally, his Bible contained a death date for "Sarah Turner Sr." This researcher has speculated that Sarah could have been the mother
of these children.
The name Sarah Turner appeared on the list of members of the Boiling Springs Baptist Church when it was reconstituted in 1792. Because the daughter Sarah is not believed to have been born until about 1780, it seems more reasonable, although not impossible, that it was the oldest Sarah who was the charter member of the church rather than her daughter who would have been only about 12 years old. We also know that Lewis, Samuel, Henry Jr., and Nancy all had daughters named Sarah.
Lewis Turner stated in his pension application that he had been born in February 1761-1763 in Frederick Co., VA. Research in Frederick Co., VA did not reveal Henry Turner either as grantor or grantee in deeds nor was he named in will records for Turners there. Jeremiah Rackley /Ratley/Ratliff of Blount Co. AL Our documented ancestor, Jeremiah Rackley most likely was born in Franklin County, North Carolina between 1760 and 1770. He married ca 1788 and was the father of a son by 9 May 1789. In 1791 and 1793 Jeremiah purchased property from estate sales in Franklin County and in 1794 he witnessed a deed when Mills Rackley sold his farm to John Micajah . Charles Holt and William Littlefield were witnesses as well. Later Jeremiah's son John would state that Charles Holt and Martha Holt were his aunt and uncle signifying that Martha was either sister of Jeremiah or sister of Jeremiah's wife, name unknown. The sale of the farm was in preparation for Mills to move to Union District South Carolina. We know that Jeremiah and Charles Holt moved frequently from later testamonies of their children for Revolutionary War benefits. Jeremiah's daughter Elizabeth lists her birthplace as Georgia in 1797 and Jeremiah with son Joshua and son-in-law Joshua Callahan are listed as taxpayers in Franklin Co., Tennessee in 1812 and 1814. Jeremiah's daughter Susie Ratley stated that she was born in Ky and that she moved to Alabama in 1816 and settled among the Indians. Jeremiah's estate was settled in Blount County, Alabama on July 13th, 1846. His wife had preceded him in death. Excerpts from the court documents are as follows: It is further ordered that the said account as stated as aforesaid be filed and recorded. It is further ordered that the said Austin Murphree Administrator as aforesaid proceed to make distribution of the said sum of thirty three dollars and fifty cents among those entitled thereto in manner and form following that is to say -- To John Ratliff son of said deceased the sum of four dollars and seventy eight cents which is hereby assessed and decreed as his distributive share and which the said Austin Murphree Administrator is decreed to pay out to him and for which execution may issue to Joshua Ratliff the sum of four dollars and seventy eight cents which is hereby assessed and decreed as his distributive share. To James Ratliff the sum of four dollars and seventy-eight cents which is hereby assessed and decreed as his distributive share. To the children of George Dayley by his first wife the sum of four dollars and seventy-eight cents which is hereby assessed as their distributive share. George Dayley husband of Elizabeth Dayley the sum of four dollars and seventy-eight cents, which is hereby assessed as his distributive share. To_____Callahan husband of Susan Callahan the sum of four dollars and seventy-eight cents, which is hereby assessed and decreed as his distributive share. To James Turner husband of _____Turner the sum of four dollars and seventy-eight cents, which is hereby assessed and decreed as his distributive share. Which the said Austin Murphree Administrator as aforesaid is decreed to pay over repectfully to each of the aforesaid heirs and for which executions may respectfully issue.
