My name is Julene Glinz. I work in the Activity Department At Ave
Marie Village.
We will have two meetings a month where we want the kids to come in and interact with the
residents. Parents are more than welcome also. I will schedule it regularly for
the first and third Tuesday of the month @2:30 with social hour to follow which
is usually just 1/2 hour. The first Tuesday will be a craft. The next will be
more of a sharing activity depending on what is going on in the calendar. The
first group is January 6th @2:30. We are planning snowflake making for this
time. The residents and the kids can work together to create snowflakes. Then
to follow we have social hour @3:00. This is usually coffee, juice and cookies.
We would love for the the kids to stay for this time as well as parents. For
the next meeting January 20th we are doing a hobby week. So it would be great
if the kids could come and share their hobbies with the residents. The kids
could describe their hobby and bring something in to show the residents. If the
kids are in piano they could play a song on our piano. If they write poetry
they could bring in a poem to read. They could bring in their favorite book to
read. For younger kids they could bring in a toy or something they like to
play with. The possibilities are endless. What our goals in this kids time
with residents is to establish a connection to the younger generation.
Something that is often missed in their lives of our residents. I'm excited
about this new group activity. If you have any questions or concerns please
feel free to e-mail or call. Ave Marie Village 252-5660 ask for Julene in the
activity department.
