Staten Island is richer today.

Or so they say; the tabloids
have got it wrong before. I read the stories suggesting
they have you hooked up to a Mesa Boogie amplifier
& The Doc is playing power chords
on a vintage Rickenbacker 12 string
to blast the tumor into smithereens. I keep this image
because I can't stand the others. I imagine
what cannot be the truth: that you are not in pain,
that your are not suffering the agony of your body
betraying you. It's not the usual things: how much I owe you;
how much I learned from you. It's the other things:
you knew how to ring the sound out of a guitar riff,
and I appreciate that. I believe that your Sweet Lord
watches over you; I believe that Ringo
still has a hole in his pocket; I believe
that you will be fine. Hang on; I'll call Doc Petty. He knows
just exactly
how to play that A min. dim. 5th.
