BROTHER, PART 2
Written under the influence of an absolutely terrible hangover the day after my brother's bachelor party. The actual brother of the title is Doug's wife's brother, Tim. This was maybe the second time I'd met Tim, and probably the first time we ever talked at any length. The subject matter ranged, over the course of something like ten beers, from careers to locations to childhood memories. After some point in the evening we moved from the original party locus (Doug's old house, still occupied by one of his old roommates) to a farm house one of his other pals was renting, where the live music, being played by anyone who grabbed a guitar or microphone, was too loud to have any conversation with anyone on any subject. I had intended, at some point, to tighten up the images, get this down to a hard series of successive descriptions, but on balance I decided to let it be the big, messy poem that it is.
