WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Um.
I was surfing the web while the TV was on, and this ad came on TV for a web-based travel service, everythingiscloser.com. And I kind of just went "Huh." I thought "Everything is Closer" would be a great title for a poem. So I started dibbling, and suddenly I'm writing an imageric about spacewalking. I had been a big fan of NASA as a kid, until I realized that about eighty percent of the stuff I was excited about was stuff they never did, never had done. Like spacewalking.
When Jonathan Froer's Everything is Illuminated came out, I got all excited, cause the title sounded cool. I thought maybe there would be some grand metaphor at work: all our experiences in life are illuminations, like the illustrations in medieval texts are illuminations. Then it turns out that he's using Multicultural Lit Novel Plot 3-C. I remember thinking to myself, "Crap." What a waste of a great title!
