The sources of the information are many: dive boat captains, dive shop owners, fellow scuba divers, N.O.A.A., books, magazines, newspapers archives and old maps. The effort has been extensive. It has been worked on since January 1983. The list has been gone over by commercial dive operators who verified the numbers against their own. A copy was given to Jacques Cousteau for his 75th birthday.
